Mar 11, 2024On a flight this week from ATL to ORF, I was pleased to see that they filled all of the available FC seats (about 8 of them) with military guys. (One guy asked the FA if he could get "free refills" on his cocktail!) 
They pulled these guys from the back of the plane, at the last minute. On the return Friday, they had one empty FC seat, and again, upgraded a man in uniform.
WELL DONE! That's the first kind thing I can say about Delta in quite a while.
(On another note, upon sharing that with a liberal-minded friend, she couldn't help showing her contempt).

I would like to applaud your female friend. I totally agree with her.
Military personnel is doing a job. They chose to join the military and they
are getting paid to do that. Period. That does not qualify for upgrading
on flights or for any other special treats either.

Then I would bet that you are not a US citizen. Remember that most of DL's pax *are* US citizens and they probably wouldn't agree with your view.Originally Posted by deltaflieger

Boy, there is some real OMNI like things I could say in this thread. But I just wrote in another thread that I don't do OMNI.
Let me try to be softer than I could be. I have never been in the military. My dad was a Marine in the Korean War. He never made a big deal about any of that when I was growing up (and he was lucky enough not to see combat anyway) but we never not considered the offer from the United States of America to take the "special perk" of a flag upon his death some 40 years later.
