New Security procedure at JFK 2

At the security belt, TSA precheck, you now put your bag in a "slot" for each bag and it has to go into a bin and then it is pulled back and goes through the belt. You don't put it on the belt yourself. I see no way this saves time, in fact it seemed to add time, and I haven't seen this elsewhere, has anyone else seen this (I had already put my phone in my bag so no pictures)?

Seeing this was T2 at JFK, which is only Delta, I put it under Delta. Moderators, please move or combine (I didn't see another thread)

The automated bins have been for a bit. Already been discussed.
