I personally never saw the utility of mobile boarding passes. It seems to be more hassle to check in via phone than to spend a few seconds at the kiosk which never has a line anyway, and it's easier to whip a piece of paper out of your pocket and hand it to someone than to fumble with your phone. And I consider myself a pretty tech-savvy person.
But back to the subject of the thread, this kind of attitude is unfortunately common in the airline industry. There is no excuse for rude treatment and eye-rolling, although perhaps there are regulations (either overtime laws or union rules) that prevent employees from doing anything that may be construed as work after their time has ended.

But it's always better to check in as early as possible because occasionally delta doesn't allow you to check in online, and it's always better to know if you need to allow extra time to see agent. Unless you are fighting for an upgrade and don't want anyone to know your position until an hour before departure.
Also why waste paper if you don't need to? And why allow yourself to be tied to a sheet of paper if you don't need to? You are carrying your phone anyway.
The world is moving on without you paper passers, delta app offers a lot more functionality than just boarding pass

This might sound crazy, but hear me out. I have often read your opinions on this forum where snark is often found, or just plain ludicrous responses are given to questions; why don't you allow me to have mine?

Welcome to FlyerTalk Delta forum!
I've found that due to issues exactly as you described with mobile boarding passes, as soon as I get a boarding pass on my phone, I pop a screenshot and save it so that I don't have to worry about connectivity or other issues later at the very moment when I need it to get through security or board the plane.
That said, sorry to hear about all of the other personnel related issues you had at the airport. Some of that is inexcusable. Some of that, is likely that they finished their shift, so they're done. Everybody goes home at some point, but there a right way, and a wrong way to handle it.

This has been said by several people, but the bottom line is, if you regularly don't have time to take 15 seconds to print a boarding pass from a Kiosk, then you just are terrible at managing time.
If you are someone who likes to cut the airport down to the second and you haven't the time to arrive a bit early, fly private; your 15 seconds is obviously worth thousands which if extrapolated would save your company millions over the year due to increased productivity. Sell this in your next meeting with your boss!

For me the main draw is not worrying about check in cutoffs. With Clear and precheck, I can regularly arrive 5 (or 10) minutes after a T-30 cutoff and be fine. For airports with T-45, the difference is even more stark.
But more to the point: if it makes you feel better, feel free to print your boarding pass. But your argument for why people "should" seems totally groundless. There's no more affirmative reason to print a boarding pass than there is to get to the airport three minutes early to do 12 jumping jacks in the corner before TSA.

Even though I use the app quite a bit I still print boarding passes at the kiosk out of fear that my phone will die (actually happened at JFK last Monday). But the other reason I use the kiosks is that the mobile app still doesn't ask if you want to volunteer if the flight is oversold; the kiosk and web check-in do.

I always use the app, but I still will print a paper copy just in case my phone dies. One other reason is if you want to get the mini TSA precheck at MSP after the real precheck line shuts down at 9 PM. For some reason, TSA will only allow you to use the metal detector instead of the full body scan with a paper boarding pass there, electronic means nothing to them. Only place I've ever run across that policy, but they claimed it was a MSP specific thing.
