DL adds BOS-AUS/BUF/JAX/MCI/ORF

I can't find a press release yet, but the OAG thread at a.net reflects these routes added starting in the fall.

Curious additions. Wouldn't have thought there was much call for some of them.

The MCI add stuck out to me, not that I know much of anything about the MCI market. In general though, DL has shown a willingness to add point to point routes that they think make sense, so I'm sure they have reasons for these additions, even if I don't see some of them

BOS-BUF seems to be picking up the capacity that American (Eagle) is dropping. And DL has been (slowly) adding capacity to AUS. RDU was added, SEA is starting, a third JFK has started, and I think an eight ATL was added (though that may be more of a frequency add than a capacity add, as the 757s and 739s seem to downgauge with the additional flight). Can't help but think/hope DL has some designs on AUS.

As for MCI, WN operates the route, so it's something of a competitive response. It's also true that there are some companies that shuttle back and forth between cities.

With AUS, there's a rumor that Delta has signed a lease on a SkyClub to be opened there when the airport expansion is completed.

They're all bookable as well.

I hope so too. It'll be nice to see them have a foothold within Texas again, even if it's only minor. Plus I'm happy that there will be some competition on the BOS - AUS market.

There was a recent thread stating that the new East Concourse extension in AUS will include space for a lounge for a "legacy carrier". One would assume that this would be for DL as AA and UA already have lounges their.

MCI-BOS is operated using a CRJ900. 1,256 miles.

Ewww. An E170/175 would have been a lot more appropriate. That might be a candidate for longest current DL CRJ route.

I think MSP-PSC still has it beat.

MSP-PSC is 2 miles shorter than BOS-MCI. However, there are definitely several CR9 routes of 1,250 miles or longer; SLC-ORD (1,250 miles) and SLC-GDL (1,487 miles) come to mind as common offenders.

I'm hoping it's a SC, but it could conceivably also be a new AA or UA club.

one-stop TCON on Delta Connection: LAX-MCI (1360 miles on the E75), MCI-BOS

as for E75 long-hauls, SEA<-->MKE is 1689; AS runs PDX<-->AUS at 1712 and PDX<-->STL at 1703

AUS-BOS will be on the A319. Starting in time for New England's fall foliage season. ^

Delta already operates in the East concourse, so most likely the lounge will be Delta.

The MCI service is a resumption from 2012. State Street/SSGA has a major back office center in Kansas City.

Other additions clearly target B6.
