No more DTW-LHR on VS

I looked but didn't see a previous thread so fyi:

As of this week, VS is no longer flying DTW-LHR. Both flights are now operated by DL. Instead, there is now SEA-LHR service on Virgin five days per week.

If this was posted previously and I missed something, please merge into any existing thread.

It's been known for some time. DL put out a press release last year that the VS flight would be ending in March and DTW-LHR would be exclusively flown by DL and SEA-LHR service would be switching to VS. There's been a fair amount of discussion about it over on a'net in the DTW thread.

Will that replace DL's flight, or be in addition to?

Just wondering, due to UGs. I usually fly via JFK to MEX (as I did yesterday). I know there are reports here that we do get UGs when available at the last minute, but, since there doesn't seem to be a published rule or hierarchy, I prefer to stay on DL metal.

In addition to. AM appears to be daily out of DTW at 335pm, return from MEX is at 905am.

No doubt the VS info was already known. I was actually kind of surprised I could not find a thread about it.

Those times simply don't coincide with my travel needs!!! DTKWIA?!?!?

Those times would be good for Mexican businessmen coming here!

Simply call the day before during business hours in MEX. If there's a seat they'll upgrade you. Do it all the time, especially on the 787s JFK/MEX.

Have you done this with DL flight numbers?

By any chance, have you tried it on an award ticket?

I'll be traveling on DL16 DTW-LHR tomorrow.

Booked award tickets on VS a long time ago (Ultimate Rewards points converted to VS miles during an award sale). Later got an email saying the flight would be operated by DL instead.
