737-900 economy seats are horrible
For the first time in a long time I flew in regular economny from SJD to MSP on SAT. Sat in 17AB on a 737-900. While having the screen was wonderful, I must say the seat itself (the bottom cushion to be exact) was the most uncomfortable I've perhaps ever flown. For some reason the back of the bottom cushion had a raise in it which caused my butt to fall asleep in about 15 min. I moved the cushion around (detaching it from the velcro) and also asked passengers near by and it seemed most had this issue. Complicating the issue was it was VERY hot in our section. We all asked the FA to turn it down but she said "The folks in first class said they are cold, so the captain turned up the heat". So besides the weak air and uncomfortable seats, the flight was great! Am I the only one that feels this way?

Yes the seats are awful... welcome to the new slimline style.
Are they using the same ones in the new 350s and for the 777 refurb? Do the updated 757s have these also?

The 737 seats are 17.2" wide, while the A350 can accommodate 18" seats, so they won't be the same. If DL chooses to go 3x4x3 on the 777s, the seat is likely to be similar to the 737s.

I actually thought the 737-900 seats were pretty comfortable on the flights I've taken with them, but I do have an ample derriere from lots of squats and kettle bell work so maybe that helps.

I have not had a problem with the cushioning on the seats of the 739 as OP did. I will say that I despise the plane, however. The 17.2" seat width sucks compared to an A320 family plane, they don't take turbulence well, and are hideous planes aesthetically.

I don't think I've ever sat in any recent 737 Y seats on ANY airline that have comfortable seats. The 737 program imo is just built for HD or LCC.

Does anybody know the extent of which this exact 739 coach seat model is used across other narrowbodies in the DL fleet?
Added: I found this reference from a DL employee post announcing the 739 intro and some other reconfigs, emphasis mine. The A330 seat is wider but the 753 has the same seat model as the 739.
The 21 Economy Comfort and 139 Economy seats are the same comfortable model (B/E Aerospace Pinnacle) we’re installing on the A330 and 757-300 fleets. This seat offers an articulating seat pan for additional knee clearance and we’ve added extra foam padding for more comfort and a winged, four-way adjustable headrest. Each seat also features a sleek, integrated high resolution 9” monitor with USB power available at every seat. Standard power outlets to charge your laptop or tablet are also available at every seat, in direct view and easily accessible.
