I'm flying on a N award ticket (JFK-MCO), I put my Alaska milage plan (MVP) number in to take advantage of upgrades before they end.
Looks like I show up as gold medallion after checkin but I have no upgrade status: shows a "-" in the app and online it says "NOT COMPLIMENTARY UPGRADE ELIGIBLE"
I am also not on the upgrade list. Am I SOL or is there a chance the gate agent bumps me up to comfort + or First? Its

A couple of data points.
Monday 4/17, was #14/83 for zero available seats on a 2:15 SLC-ATL. However, after taking VDB and moving to the 5:15 flight, I was #4/15 for five available seats and cleared about 40 minutes before departure. After boarding I realized the 757 hadn't been refurbished, no old seats and no personal video. I didn't realize they had 757's that hadn't been refurbed; but it did make me wonder if that was part of the reason the 2:15 flight was oversold and the 5:15 was able to clear 25 or so standby passengers.
Thursday 4/20, RUC applied to ATL-SEA, cleared into the only available FC seat about 75 minutes before scheduled departure.

4/21 DL1248 AUS-ATL (B739), cleared at window
4/21 DL1587 ATL-MEM (MD88), 4 of 20 for 0 seats
Interestingly, I was offered a FCM offer of $109 for the ATL-MEM leg at check in even though the F cabin was full. I ended up doing a SDC to DL 2245 at about T-30, after upgrades had processed, so I sat in a standard Y seat. I wanted to connect to DL1422 on the 2nd leg but the connection was technically below MCT so I couldn't be confirmed on that leg. I would have easily cleared, but I didn't make it to the gate until after boarding had started, and so I sat in regular Y again. Worth it to get home 2 hours earlier.

Cleared at the window for both LAX-YVR and YVR-LAX. Can say when that last happened
On the way back my F seat was broken so they moved me to the 1st row of C+ and gave me a $200 voucher. Oh, and since I was in the 1st row of C+ I got F drink service I'll take that.

Lowly FO here. Never post here (hence the lack of upgrades) but was thrilled to log in to check in from BWI-SLC tomorrow with a first class upgrade that apparently cleared at the window. (never got an email...N Fare...made it even more surprising)
2nd upgrade all year (of 28 flights), figured this was a worthy enough occurrence for a pat on the back here on FT

I went 5 for 6 this past week:
On 4/24, DCA-LAX-LAS, I cleared the LAX-LAS segment at the 5 day window, and was able to use an RUC on the "inaugural" Delta 1 DCA-LAX 757; despite putting in for it 2 weeks in advance, I was #2 for 1 seat until 90 minutes before departure when 2 D1 cancellations occurred; I cleared 40 minutes before departure.
On 4/25, LAS-SJC, EMB-170 with 9 F seats, I cleared 3 days in advance.
On 4/26, SJC-LAS, EMB-175 with 12 F seats, I cleared at the window.
On 4/27, LAS-LAX-DCA, 737-800 with 16 F seats, I was #8 for 0 F seats. This was the first leg of DL7, LAS-LAX-HND with a change of equipment at LAX. At least half of the pax on this trip appeared to be Japanese heading home from the National Association of Broadcasters convention. I think a number of those ahead of me on the upgrade list had J class tickets on the TPAC portion of this trip.
I did better on the LAX-DCA D1 nonstop, as my RUC cleared; I got the good news 30 minutes before departure (I was #2 for 3 empties).

Finally missed for the first time on SEA-LAX/LAX-SEA.
Monday Evening, L Fare. At check-in at T-24 hours, I was #1 for 4 seats. In the morning it was #1 for 6 seats. But for some reason most flights to LAX were delayed throughout the day and at the airport, I was #4 for 1 seat (I guess people on later flights that were also delayed moved up to my flight).
For the return: Thursday morning, L fare.Cleared at the gate as #1 for 5 seats.
