JFK-NRT stop >10/3, do I want ATL777 or DTW A330?

Booked to SIN D1 (award) in November (return from HKG in December). Just got a call from Delta that they're discontinuing the JFK-NRT flights. I was auto-rerouted to Detroit - timing almost the same. Plane switched from 777 JFK-NRT to an A330. I would love to fly the 747 since DTW is one of the few routes left but I can't find it on the schedule.

So - for a couple in D1 (not that it matters - we've got seats together on the 767 NRT-SIN and across the aisle on the A330 return to Seattle) do I stick with the Detroit routing, or ask for the Atlanta routing (which is on a 777)? Timing is about the same for each (in terms of overall travel time).

[our first Delta One trip was LHR in January, so this will only be our 2nd - we're excited] Thanks!

The A330 seats in Delta One are superior to the 777.

Sadly, A332 noted on my itinerary and in dl.com for the following day (was thinking about trying to get the day changed - would LOVE to fly the 747!!!) I asked about this in the 747 thread.....

I had to rebook my return NRT-JFK on 10/8 when I first learned about this a couple of weeks ago. I chose the 747 thru Detroit. It allowed me to get an upper level D1 seat before the 747 leave the fleet.
