Apparently various ways of tricking automated ticketing systems into potentially giving you better rates. First I've heard of it too, but a bit of googling found this:

http://www.travelcodex.com/2012/01/b...-fuel-dump-3x/

FD = fuel dump = adding an extra flight leg/carrier/something to try and get the pricing engines to drop fuel surcharges from a final fare

3x = third strike = basically the same idea of hidden city ticketing; 3 segment itinerary where you "strike"/don't fly the last segment to try and get better pricing on a given route

I assume 1X = first strike? Where you don't fly the first segment? No idea how that would work though, as I'd expect your itinerary to be cancelled if you miss the first flight...

There is a thread discussing these - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/milea...ge-thread.html

If you're serious about learning to do it, my suggestion is ready the entire thread - all 43000+ posts.
