Delta's Operational move from T5 to T2/3 at LAX:

Delta has moved to: T2 and T3 with eventual connector to TBIT (note: there is currently only airside bus service to stay securely between T2 & T3, the walking connector has not been built yet.)

Where to check bags: As of January 13, 2020, non-Sky Priority customers must check their bag(s) at the terminal their flight departs from, unless their flight departs from TBIT, in which case, they must check their bag at Terminal 2. Sky priority customers can check their bag at either terminal. See this link for more information.

Date(s) of move: May 12, 2017 - May 17, 2017

Here is a helpful chart from Delta which covers all Domestic / Int'l. transfer combos (AND TOTAL TRANSFER TIMES) between T2, T3 & TBIT.

New Bus Routes will help with connections:
- Circular Airfield Bus between TBIT, T2 and T3
- Airfield Bus between T2 and T3

Bus Map

Will there be a SkyClub: Yes, there is one in each terminal. Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse will remain.
- The SkyClub in T2 opened on May 20th (Former AC Maple Leaf Lounge)
pix in post 1058
- The SkyClub in T3 opened on May 24th (Former VX Loft)

https://www.delta.com/content/www/en...d-updates.html

Where Will The Delta One Check In Lounge Be Located:

Delta will temporarily offer dedicated check-in space in Terminal 2 (first door closest to T1) while a long-term Delta One experience is finalized.
In T2, there is a small Delta One seating area with refreshments. An agent will escort you from the check in/lounge area through a back pathway up stairs to TSA precheck. Its a shorter walk to check-in at SkyPriority and easier if you have a carry on and don't want to drag it up a flight of stairs. 11/3/17)

Airlines joining DL in T2/3 for landside and departures:
- AeroMexico (T2)
- Virgin Atlantic (T2)
- WestJet (T3)

Landside T2 only, departures from TBIT:
- Virgin Australia
- Volaris

Landside T3 only, departures from TBIT:
- Avianca/Taca
- Copa (effective April 7)
- InterJet

Will there be secure links between T2-T3 and TBIT: Yes, the final plan is to let pax walk between all airside.

Being Australian I can't have Global Entry.
Colombians can join but not Australians. Funny, didn't realize it. Especially since US passport holders can use egate in Australia.

No more Delta One lounge

Flying LAX-JFK D1 tonight. Surprised at the sudden downgrade in experience from T5: D1 check in is the longest walk to security and there is no special path/hallway up to security (for now). No amenities in the D1 check-in area, just regular desks (no snacks, no restroom, etc.). I'd actually suggest checking in at SkyPriority to be closer to security.

And because a few people asked: D1 does not get Clubhouse access.

I can't remember if it was T2 or T3 but on Thursday they were giving passengers that had access a $15 food voucher because the lounge wasn't open.
Brings me back to AS Days. I was in the VX lounge when it was an AS Boardroom then as the Virgin Loft and now the DL SkyClub. Who remembers the TWA Ambassador Lounge?

All of the above is coming. This is a temporary setup. DL had approximately 4 hours to move in (from the last flight of the night until the first flight the next morning). Now DL is starting a $1.9B project to improve its new terminals.

Flew into LAXT2 on Monday around ~ 9pm. Terminal looked good, but packed. I'm surprised no escalator up to level 2, but the lighted stairs look nice.

The Sky Club was bigger than I thought it would be, and doesn't look terrible for not being updated. It is obvious that it's a temporary setup. It was 1/2 full and didn't feel that crowded (lots of seating). Lighting was rough with 1/2 the fixtures not illuminated. This is probably intentional (being to bright with them on) but I'm not sure.

My wife kinda liked the self-serve aspect of it and found it relaxing. I wasn't so much a fan of the gas station snacks.

The lights might be a function of not enough power run to where they are. I know several of the seats were not connected to power when I was there last. Hope it's a bit more finished before I'm back next week!

Just the elevator. Been that way since back when the VS Clubhouse was a NW WC.

First time in LAX since the move. Landed in T3. It was hard to find the lounge. Didn't know there were no showers in T3. It didn't quite matter as T2 still does not have their showers installed. We decided to stay in T3.

All pre-packaged snacks and cup o noodles. Seating is stingy and OK. Seating is definitely not meant for family travelers. Spaces are structured to occupy at most 4 in total. FYI for those traveling with families. I suggest going to T2.

Staff, especially bar staff, was extremely cordial. They were well aware of issues in regards to the move and delays. Surprisingly, everything at the bar was top shelf and champagne was served. Veuve Clicquot champagne in the morning for mimosas.

Had a morning flight. Would've loved a shower, but possible probably by July.

Really? That would be an interesting approach to help get people through years of waiting for T3 to be rebuilt.

AA wants to get into the game also. They have a letter of intent with LAWA to spend $1.6B on rebuilding and improving T4/T5 over the next 15 years. Not quite as impressive as DL's plans, but still noteworthy

Flew into T3 today. Boy is it a blast from the past. Felt almost nostalgic for the good old days of the mid 80s That being said, it was straight to the curb and a Lyft home, didn't feel so nostalgic that I wanted to linger

BTW, anybody heard anything about when Clear will be coming in and to which terminals? I used it for really the first time (other time was my signup day) in ATL this morning. Granted Sat morning is not peak time for this but from walking up to the Clear terminal to going town the escalator to the train was not much more than a minute. I could get used to that

(Yes, I know, as they say in the commercials "Results not typical")

glad to know i'm not the only one. i flew out of T3 a year or two ago and wow, it was such a bizarre feeling as i hadn't been in there since probably the late 70s. I remember even before that ('60s-'70s) when there was NO SECURITY and one would just walk from the curb to the gate. I was just a kid but I still remember it very well.

Perhaps not as impressive in the dollar figure, but AA's current facilities are a heck of a lot better than DL's. They've recently finished upgrades that provide them an airside, pedestrian connection amongst all AA gates and all or nearly all AA partners (oneworld and AS). They're currently renovating their main (T4) lounges. And none of T4, T5, or TBIT are in anywhere near as bad shape as T3. The biggest drawback for AA's operation (and it's a biggie) is the Eagle's Nest, and that goes away when the midfield concourse opens and Eagle can move to T5. So it's hard to compare the future investment by DL to the past, ongoing, and future investment by AA.

In the long term, I think both will have good facilities at LAX; in the short term, AA has a pretty clear advantage even without their investment.
