Delta's Operational move from T5 to T2/3 at LAX:
Delta has moved to: T2 and T3 with eventual connector to TBIT (note: there is currently only airside bus service to stay securely between T2 & T3, the walking connector has not been built yet.)
Where to check bags: As of January 13, 2020, non-Sky Priority customers must check their bag(s) at the terminal their flight departs from, unless their flight departs from TBIT, in which case, they must check their bag at Terminal 2. Sky priority customers can check their bag at either terminal. See this link for more information.
Date(s) of move: May 12, 2017 - May 17, 2017
Here is a helpful chart from Delta which covers all Domestic / Int'l. transfer combos (AND TOTAL TRANSFER TIMES) between T2, T3 & TBIT.
New Bus Routes will help with connections:
- Circular Airfield Bus between TBIT, T2 and T3
- Airfield Bus between T2 and T3
Bus Map
Will there be a SkyClub: Yes, there is one in each terminal. Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse will remain.
- The SkyClub in T2 opened on May 20th (Former AC Maple Leaf Lounge)

- The SkyClub in T3 opened on May 24th (Former VX Loft)

Where Will The Delta One Check In Lounge Be Located:
In T2, there is a small Delta One seating area with refreshments. An agent will escort you from the check in/lounge area through a back pathway up stairs to TSA precheck. Its a shorter walk to check-in at SkyPriority and easier if you have a carry on and don't want to drag it up a flight of stairs. 11/3/17)
Airlines joining DL in T2/3 for landside and departures:
- AeroMexico (T2)
- Virgin Atlantic (T2)
- WestJet (T3)
Landside T2 only, departures from TBIT:
- Virgin Australia
- Volaris
Landside T3 only, departures from TBIT:
- Avianca/Taca
- Copa (effective April 7)
- InterJet
Will there be secure links between T2-T3 and TBIT: Yes, the final plan is to let pax walk between all airside.

LAX 2017 Terminal Move: The Definitive Thread

When DL is using "gate 60" at LAX, is it just the actual gate or is it also the staging/arrival area for buses like when AA renumbered the bus holding zone to Gate 60A-Q?
When it's used as a bus gate it has some accessibility challenges - I don't want to make a wheelchair assist request unnecessarily but I also don't want to end up at remote airstairs off a mainline a/c and no elevator at the main terminal end either.

I did ask this in the LAX destination thread as well, but has there been any announcement on how long these airside shuttles are going to last? I booked an AS/DL mixed itinerary connecting in LAX for late May, prior to the terminal move announcement. My itinerary also had a small schedule change and I thought with that plus the LAX issues, it was worth calling in to see if Delta would let me move to a different connecting flight. Unfortunately the rep said they didn't know of anything happening in May at LAX and said my reservation was fine.

Yes I agree, someone I know who works for DL at MCO told me that they have been telling them that there is a buddy pass embargo for LAX from May 12-16th and telling them to avoid LAX at all cost during that time. I'm surprised that DL isn't issuing some sort of waiver for flights connecting in LAX during that time. I still see 55 min connections for LAX during the middle of the move. A flight arriving at T6 and departing from T2 (or vise versa) would probably take 55 min alone.

I think DL will be ready. They know how to do this kind of thing. That said, there will still be many problems. Connections between 2/3 and 5/6 will take a while, just because of sheer distance. There's nothing DL can do about that. Fortunately, it's only a few days, and it's a relatively low travel season.

Students then travel home or go on vacation. It may not be day before Thanksgiving/Christmas. However it is not low season by a long stretch.

Here is the current joy I am experiencing: just landed and not yet deplaned at LAX. traveling PVR-LAX-SFO. Landed at t5 at LAX only to be bused to Bradley because customs closed at t5. Then, from there need to get to t6 to fly to SFO. have 90 minutes. This is not fun. The 6 children behind me have not helped nor has the chorus of wheels on the bus.
Edited to add: we've been waiting 15 minutes so far for the bus to show up.

Yeah we're not going to miss it, customs was quick. However, we got to t6 at 6pm for what is now a 7:59 departure. And then joyfully found the AS boardroom is. It taking PP. evade if overcrowding, so we went to t5 to spend an hour in the lounge. I've had a tour of LAX.
