Delta's Operational move from T5 to T2/3 at LAX:

Delta has moved to: T2 and T3 with eventual connector to TBIT (note: there is currently only airside bus service to stay securely between T2 & T3, the walking connector has not been built yet.)

Where to check bags: As of January 13, 2020, non-Sky Priority customers must check their bag(s) at the terminal their flight departs from, unless their flight departs from TBIT, in which case, they must check their bag at Terminal 2. Sky priority customers can check their bag at either terminal. See this link for more information.

Date(s) of move: May 12, 2017 - May 17, 2017

Here is a helpful chart from Delta which covers all Domestic / Int'l. transfer combos (AND TOTAL TRANSFER TIMES) between T2, T3 & TBIT.

New Bus Routes will help with connections:
- Circular Airfield Bus between TBIT, T2 and T3
- Airfield Bus between T2 and T3

Bus Map

Will there be a SkyClub: Yes, there is one in each terminal. Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse will remain.
- The SkyClub in T2 opened on May 20th (Former AC Maple Leaf Lounge)
pix in post 1058
- The SkyClub in T3 opened on May 24th (Former VX Loft)

https://www.delta.com/content/www/en...d-updates.html

Where Will The Delta One Check In Lounge Be Located:

Delta will temporarily offer dedicated check-in space in Terminal 2 (first door closest to T1) while a long-term Delta One experience is finalized.
In T2, there is a small Delta One seating area with refreshments. An agent will escort you from the check in/lounge area through a back pathway up stairs to TSA precheck. Its a shorter walk to check-in at SkyPriority and easier if you have a carry on and don't want to drag it up a flight of stairs. 11/3/17)

Airlines joining DL in T2/3 for landside and departures:
- AeroMexico (T2)
- Virgin Atlantic (T2)
- WestJet (T3)

Landside T2 only, departures from TBIT:
- Virgin Australia
- Volaris

Landside T3 only, departures from TBIT:
- Avianca/Taca
- Copa (effective April 7)
- InterJet

Will there be secure links between T2-T3 and TBIT: Yes, the final plan is to let pax walk between all airside.

It really is the most boring architecture that $1.9B could buy.
agree^

they need to add some distinguishing features like two or three more levels topped by a revolving Sky-Club

Wouldn't mind if they added a connector and renovated the old landmark restaurant into a Skyclub.

What does DL propose for a temporary lounge? The Virgin America Loft? Shuttle to and from T 5? Shuttle to TBIT Skyteam Lounge? Delta needs a lounge. I love the Loft.

Well VX is moving to T6 to be with AS, so there won't be a Loft in T3 anymore. And I doubt they'll open a new one, they'll probably just use the AS Board Room.

There will be lounges in T2 and T3. I believe they are taking over the AC lounge in T2 and the Loft in T3.

He meant the space that is currently the Loft. The room isn't going to disappear when VX moves. Trust me, it'll still be there. When airlines swap terminals, it's very standard for them to take over each other's lounges.

I think the B Concourse expansion at JFK T4 wins that award, but this is close

To be fair, doesn't that figure also include how much DL had to pay out in order to get all the other airlines to agree to the move?

We've been told by Delta rep that Int'l and JFK premium pax will have access to VS Lounge in T2.

Delta is also supposedly taking over VA Loft in T3 to operate (at least temporarily) as a Delta Lounge.

Not sure if Delta will takeover Maple Leaf lounge in T2 but I imagine they will run out of space in the VS lounge if they don't open up another Delta Lounge in T2.

I have no Delta status, but I have a few upcoming trips from LAX on Delta this summer, and I was looking forward to using my AA Admirals Club in T4, and then just walking airside to Delta T5 right before my flights. I guess this re-model nixes those plans!

Ya know, that's not a bad idea as long it's all airside. I'll start monitoring how efficient the new shuttle is one it's up and running

That is what I have heard as well. I didn't ask about D1 using the VS Clubhouse in T2, but that would be very nice.

Copa check-in is moving T6 to T3 the night of April 6th, with check-in starting Friday, April 7th at T3.

http://www.lawa.org/uploadedFiles/LA...IN_COUNTER.pdf

(Also of note, there are going to be neon green buses and additional personnel operating a bus to give Copa passengers who show up at T6 a direct connection to T3.)

Is moving a bunch of extra airlines to TBIT going to cause any capacity issues in the lounges?
