DL 757

Traveling to Maui in September through LAX, and the AC is listed as 757 (no letter following). On the reservation details, there is no WiFi listed in the amenities section, only Overhead entertainment. When I look at this version on the Aircraft page of DL.com, it shows the aircraft does have WiFi. Can anyone speak to this definitively? Just trying to plan accordingly.

There's no wifi if more than 50-100 miles from land.

DL does not do 100% wifi over water yet.

Yep, domestic fleet is currently all air-to-ground systems. DL will be replacing it with satellite based systems on the longer haul domestic aircraft (they said specifically for Caribbean/Latin America flights, but I would think it would work to Hawaii as well), but that doesn't begin until 2016.

Did they say anything about WiFi on the international flights after the upgrade is implemented?

I think the only aircraft that have satellite-based wifi is the A330 fleet.

Not sure but AA has 100% over-water and it is CHEAP. They use T Mobile and it cost $19 for the entire flight from DFW-HKG (14.5 hours). I am sure DL will be rolling it out soon as they are behind here.

All 744's also have it and I think most (all?) 777's. Not sure about current status of 763ER's/764's.

All 767-400s have it now. No idea on the number of 763s, but it's been more often than not on my recent 763ER flights.

I think this is why it didn't even cross my mind that this AC wouldn't have it. All of my other flights that cross a body of water have been on either the 747 (DL and UA) or 777, and they have had it.

While not all of the 763er fleet has Sat wifi if it does have land based wifi they tend to give you the wifi for free while you are over land which is nice.

The AA 773s that have over-water wifi make up less than 2% of the AA mainline fleet.
