PM here - redepositing award ticket
So,
I might be blind or 0verlooking the obvious - it says I can redeposit unused award tickets, is this only true if I am flying or also if I purchase the ticket for another person?!
(Also - a link to that rule, I just searched for 2h online)

There's a link from the Medallion benefits page.
An award, in anybody's name, if redeemed from your account may be redeposited without fee when you are Plat or Diamond. (Subject to 72-hr rule.)

You should try to call DL to do this. If the agent wants to charge a fee for the other person's ticket, hang up and call back.
Just be aware that it MUST be done more than 72 hours before departure or you lose all the miles.

You can cancel the award online using confirmation # and traveler name, but it will prompt you to login using YOUR delta skymiles account (the account from which the award is redeemed), and it will say the redeposition would be free.

Be aware that the reverse is also true. If you someone with less than PM status buys a ticket for you with miles you will not be able to change it without paying $150.
