Because some people base their self-value on how much more "elite" they are then the rest of the people in the same aluminum tube.

Did you hear the 49% paid domestic F cabin statistic on the earnings call this week and think 'Still 51% unpaid losers?' Were you a Communications Advisor to Mitt Romney?

Are you serious??? Is this exactly what was said?

So, now we're "losers", instead of "ham sandwiches".

They tried that strategy starting in March and it failed.

A good one, too! Good point.

I have always wondered this. Not just in this instance but in lots of instances:

FOs on award tix.
Medallions using AMEX companion certs.

In these cases there is probably about a 10% chance of getting an upgrade. So why not just make the upgrade a possibility instead of making people angry.

The argument that it forces people to pay for/use miles for F doesn't really work, because it's only a 10% chance.

@:-) Maybe they had a revolt from employee non-revs.

We griped when they took the all Medallion UGs away. Non-revs were happy.

They gave them back to DMs & PMs. Employees were P.O.'d.

Compromise: Take UGs away from PMs, but keep the DMs happy.

I dunno!

So that pretty much means SEA-JFK will stay with the low-end fleet. A painful treat for the unlucky flyer that lands a B737-800 on that route going West (took us 6h 25min because of wind on 1/5).

I believe this was in effect as early as Sunday night. I was on an empty DL435 JFK -> SFO and it flew with 3 empty seats in Business (I am a PM and didn't see my name on the screen).

I think this is a mistake. My spouse does a tremendous amount of expensive domestic travel, but rarely travels overseas, and therefore finds it hard to reach DM. There are some very high spend plats in the system---some I would think with higher spend than DM's.

They are still showing flat-beds, with an increase to a consistent 2 per day in each direction starting in June (irritatingly, not the red-eye).

I think this is just a strategic move - now that they have made us all diamonds, they are trying to lure us to route through LAX and SFO with the promise that we won't have to share the space with PMs.

True. I had about $8000 MQDs last year - of course $2000 of that was after I made Diamond. Maybe if I hit $10,000 MQDs this year I will make Delta 360
