Any Word on MQM Purchase this year?
Due to an unfortunate incident (never step on a rattlesnake), I had to cancel a trip worth several thousand MQMs. Because of this, I will be 900 MQMs short for Platinum this year. Has anyone heard if DL is going to offer their MQM purchase option again? I can do a quick MR if needed, but that would take an entire day, probably be on a god-awful CRJ and be very inconvenient. Thanks!

The minimum buy-up offer was 2500 MQM's last year and was typically $795 to get Plat. It was announced in early December. A MR for 1000 MQM's will almost certainly be cheaper. I would try to book before Dec 1 as 2 week advance purchase fares at that point will put you into the busy holiday travel season where the lower fare buckets are often zero'd out.

No official word but I'll give you a word you can take to the bank: they will sell MQM again. It's pure profit. Or as DeNiro said in Casino: Running a casino is selling people dreams for cash.

I think they've sold MQMs three years in a row now. It's gotta be a huge money maker for DL so I anticipate they'll do it again.
They usually announce the sale around Dec 1.

It could be interesting if DL sends out the prices as a NYE present to folks who have failed to requalify.

Not true. The Nov 7th date last year was just the start of the FT thread. The actual DL announcement and MQM sale did not come out until Dec 3, 2013 last year.

Unfortunately, DL does not fly LAX-TUS unless you want to go through SLC. The SLC flights are not timed for a "quick turn" for the most part. That being said, if need be, I can spend 4 hours in a sardine can for Platinum .
