BUY MQMS. EARN MQDS.

Still hoping to reach Diamond, Platinum, Gold, or Silver Medallion® status for 2015? Good news—now through December 31, 2014, you can buy between 2,500 and 10,000 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) that will post to your 2014 MQM balance and apply toward your 2015 status.

Even better, dollars spent toward purchasing MQMs will also be credited as Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs – U.S.-based members only), which will be posted to your 2014 MQD balance and will also apply toward your 2015 status.

Want to learn what it means to travel for an entire year with Medallion status? Discover the benefits.

MQMs and MQDs will post to your SkyMiles® account within 24 hours of purchase.

And don’t forget:
  • MQMs purchased will be deposited to your 2014 MQM balance
  • MQMs purchased through this offer are non-refundable
  • Dollars spent toward MQM purchase will apply to your 2014 MQD balance
  • The maximum MQMs that may be purchased for one SkyMiles account for the 2015 Medallion year is 10,000

I am on the way to Double Diamond currently, but I went and checked anyway, and its $2095 for 10,000 miles. Something wrong with the calculation obviously.

+1, I would rather DL didn't have this offer at all, but am fine with it given how much they are charging.

I am 7175 miles short of renewing Plat and for me, purchasing 7500 MQMs is $1325.00. That is a heckuva' lot cheaper than doing a mileage run. But I'm still debating whether it's worth being Plat again next year, or is Gold sufficient.

If you don't already have a Delta AmEx Platinum, that might be an easier and cheaper way of getting the necessary MQM's.

Not sure if it's worth $1,325 or not to be PM, but next year PM is going to be worth a lot more than GM than in prior years due to the EC changes. With Gold you will no longer be able to select EC seats at booking next year and EC is improving a little.

And remember you can chose a $200 voucher as a choice gift to help offset that amount.

All good points, James. Thanks for your input. I had forgotten about Gold not being able to choose EC at booking next year.

Decisions! Decisions!

Thanks, LBJ. But I am already out of town during that time. The only time I have to do a mileage run is this weekend, and so my fares are coming back exorbitantly high.

Darn glad I did my mileage run. I save almost $700 bucks versus buying 2500 MQMs.

Did you get more or fewer MQMs for rollover?

I got a little less for rollover, but not enough to make up for the additional cost.

I might have the worst offer yet with barely over 115K MQMs this year:

2500 MQMs for $2195
5000 MQMs for $2495
7500 MQMs for $2795
10,000 MQMs for $2995

Now I'd consider buying the 10K for $2995 then returning 2500 of them for a $2195 refund. Unfortunately that's not an option so there's no way in he'll I'd do this. I could easily earn 10K MQMs for under half that price by flying, and then I'd get Skymiles and Million Miler credit to boot.

I'm not sure I see how it's cheaper.

I just got 12,800 MQMs in a mileage run of 24 h 46 min which ended earlier today. Cost was $100.50 plus 150,000 SkyMiles. And this was for Delta One to and from LIM, a 757 with lie-flats from BOS to ATL and the other 2 legs (CRJ900 and MD88) were domestic first. All Seat 1A.

I just got 8,600 MQMs in a mileage run of 24 h 46 min which ended earlier today. Cost was $100.50 plus 150,000 SkyMiles. And this was for Delta One to and from LIM, a 757 with lie-flats from BOS to ATL and the other 2 legs (CRJ900 and MD88) were domestic first. All Seat 1A.
Ignoring the case, that's a conversion of about 17.5 RDMs to 1 MQM. Even as a DM with AmEx Reserve, you only earn 13 RDMs per dollar spent on DL fares, so in a sense this is equivalent to spending more than a dollar per MQM, which would be a high fare (even for G A P) except for last minute purchase of a very flexible ticket. Another way of looking at it is that a D1 low RT award ticket to Europe would cost 125,000 RDMs but of course not earn any MQMs (or RDMs) for at least slightly more distance flown (depending on the particular European destination and routing, but something like JFK-LHR would give a roughly comparable distance). Your MR is basically a means to convert RDMs to MQMs, albeit not at a very favorable ratio. I hope you had fun.If one needs to do a MR, it's obviously better to do it in D1 and FC.

You should have received more than 8,600 MQMs from this trip.

I did that run two weeks ago as a turn, DTW/BOS/ATl/LIM and then was on the ground in LIM for about 90 minutes and did it back and received 14,266 MQMs. Did they give you the 50% class of service MQM bonus/ ATL/LIM is 4,766 MQM's each way.

Mine wasn't pay with miles eligible Still a great deal for less than $1,300 for all those MQMs in confirmed f/j. Hope I can find that good of a deal next year. There were at least three other people on my flight that were doing it as a mileage run turn.
