I'd be willing to read evidence that the DOT or DOJ cared about PHL-LHR, but I've looked, and there isn't any.

Would you want to serve a metro area with 10 million residents making minimum wage or 1 million residents making 6 figures??

Just a thought here, but this could also be a way of getting a toehold in the PHL market in case AA/US decides to give the PHL hub the axe. With JFK 90 miles away and already an AA international hub with far larger O&D traffic, PHL going the way of CVG as a very downsized hub is a distinct possibility.

Interesting that in such a short time, Delta will go from the only one of the Big 3 with no LHR access, to the one serving the mist US destinations nonstop.

5. Detroit
6. Minneapolis

Not quite sure of your wording here (and also not trying to be a jerk). PHL metro is #6 in the US. Dallas and Houston are larger.

Not sure what the size of a metro area has to do with filling a 757. Much more important is the quality of the metro area, i.e. how much money each resident has.
Would you want to serve a metro area with 10 million residents making minimum wage or 1 million residents making 6 figures??

It's not my opinion, just the facts. It turns out that I'm correct about the facts:

Such a link probably doesn't exist. As AMR wasn't required to relinquish a slot pair. Only that a slot pair that a member of the AT/JVI group possessed. So this most likely came from a slot pair BA used on an intra-European route. I have yet to hear of any USA-LHR flight reductions on AA/US. In fact, LAX-LHR is getting a daily second flight. As is CLT-LHR. But this would only apply if DL is agreeing to the terms of keeping this service for a minimum of 3 or 4 years. If not, then they have to use one of their own (DL or VS) slot pairs.

I thought I would offer some metrics. You need to consider the number of flights and seats for true market analysis...single frequency service obviously doesn't weight as much as multi-frequency and larger aircraft.
Delta Flights - 10 (3rd) Seats - 2,244 (3rd)
American Flights - 16 (tied for 1st) Seats - 4,279 (1st)
United Flights - 16 (tied for 1st) Seats - 3,395 (2nd)

But that is a random day (and month) to use. EWR and PHL don't start on DL until next spring, and Delta makes seasonal some frequencies of their multi-frequency markets (like DTW) after the end of October.
