SkyMiles Status Benefits with Rollover Miles

I am certain that this is a common questions, but no matter how much I search for an answer to this, I just can't find anything. My question is this: Given the following (strange but true) scenario, will I get SkyMiles Gold during (part of) 2015 and (all of) 2016?

I will end this year with 49,600 MQMs. This gets me Silver for 2015 and 24,600 rollover MQMs. I will also earn an additional 30,000+ MQMs in the first three months of 2015 (by 3/15, in fact). So can I expect to be elevated to Gold shortly after 3/15/15 and retain that status until Feb 2017? Or will I need to wait until January 2016?

Thanks for nay info you may have!

I believe you will get Gold status through Feb 2017 as long as u hit the MQD requirement in addition to the MQM requirement in 2015.

You'll become GM as soon as your rollover 24K plus (AmEx I presume) 30K post. This will be status earned in 2015 and will be effective for the remainder of 2015, all of 2016, and January 2017. [Note that DL is changing the program year so that February is no longer included.]

BTW, this assumes that you will have met the MQD requirement ($2500 spend this year for Silver) or have a waiver (legitimate foreign address or $25K spend on DL AmEx). If you don't qualify for at least Silver this year, you get absolutely NO rollover and all of your MQMs will be lost just after January 1.

No, only through January 2017.

To be precise you will have that status through the end of January 2017, ending on the 31st unless they decide to shorten up the Medallion year yet again. ("Good news everybody! We've decided to no longer mail out physical cards, so we're now making status last only until January 4th since that gives us enough time to run all the database updates.")

Yes, that is correct. However OP will have to meet the MQD requirement in 2015 as well (or have a valid waiver).

If he's getting his additional 30K MQMs in March from Amex spend (if there's another way, DO tell!), that should take care of his MQD waiver.

Thanks for your feedback. I am exempt from MQD requirements since I live in Portugal right now. The 30K MQM will actually come from a rare Business trip to Sydney in March. (Sorry, no secret opportunities there )

And for those of us double rolling this year, we are taking a chance that DL may not continue roll over miles so going beyond 250kMQM is really risking it, right? or would we be guaranteed the rollover for the next year at least (Assuming MQDs are met)?

There's no guarantee of anything with DL. They could announce on 12/31 this year that they're eliminating 2014-to-2015 rollover.

But general sense I've gotten from FT is that people think getting rid of rollover is highly unlikely in the near future.
