Delta Wins 2014 GlobeRunner Award, Best Airline in the Americas

At yesterday's GlobeRunner Awards event in New York, where FlyerTalk received a GlobeRunner for Best General Travel Site, Delta tied with United for Best Airline in the Americas.

While I am involved with the GlobeRunners, it is solely a readers choice award and many FlyerTalkers voted. This year there was a total of 150,000 votes cast.

Since I participate quite a bit in this sub-forum as a frequent Delta flyer, I wanted to share it here.

Winners of 2014 GlobeRunner Awards Announced at Event in New York City
Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Lufthansa, Delta Air Lines, Etihad Airways, Hertz, LOT Polish Airlines, Singapore Airlines, United Airlines, and Transaero Airlines have been named best in class by readers of Frequent Business Traveler.

At the 2014 GlobeRunner Awards presentation in New York City on Tuesday, Jonathan Spira, Frequent Business Traveler’s editorial director, announced the winners. The awards honor the world’s top hotel groups, airlines, car rental agencies, travel websites, and more. The awards ceremony, held at Seäsonal Restaurant & Weinbar in midtown Manhattan, was attended by top airline and hotel executives and took guests for a two-hour visit to Vienna, Austria and its cuisine....

I've asked the mods to move to Delta. Apologies for that.

I really need more Kaffee in the morning.

DL should be mortified to be in a tie with UA.

We know about second prize being two weeks in Philadelphia but how about last prize being tied with UA?

I lived in Philly as an undergrad for three years - so I'd love second prize.

My that is insulting. To be tied with UA for anything is an insult to Delta!

Delta Wins 2014 GlobeRunner Award, Best Airline in the Americas

Honestly who cares my wife for all the loyal years of flying (gold) she has never been upgraded and of course she hates the program for her next year.

Given how few airlines there are anymore it more like kindergarden where everyone wins (but is really a loser too). Or really in this case it sounds more like picking the lesser of all evils.

There were 27 airlines on the ballot for Best Airline in the Americas. While the number of large airlines in the U.S. has indeed diminished, the total number available on the ballot is still large.

This was the first year Delta won (in the tie). United won two years ago, and American won last year.

If UA also got first, I have trouble believing the award.
