BNA Doing Away with SkyPriority at Security

3 flights out of BNA in the last week and no SkyPriority line at security for any of them. I asked a TSA agent and he explained the Nashville TSA was getting rid of the SkyPriority lines at Security and only going with regular access and Pre-check. Why would Delta allow this to happen? I sent an email to the Nashville station manager asking for an explanation but thus far, no response (thank you Delta). How long will it be before this "privilege" is taken away at other airports? Is this just another way to diminish the value of Frequent Flyer Status?

MCO, essentially, got rid of it last year. All that's left is a very negligible chance of getting ahead of a few people in line for regular security. And, the TSA agent at the SP lane also handles boarding passes for non-Priority passengers at the other side of the stanchion.

Heck, sounds like you just described the PreChk line at MCO

More like DL trying to save $, since TSA doesn't control line access (generally). Private companies do.

Correct. Private companies in conjunction with the airport control all lines up to the TSA checkpoint.

I was thinking the same thing. So glad my projects in FL are done and no more MCO for a long time (I hope)!!!

Since Nashville has lots of Southwest flights, makes me wonder that it's going to impact those WN A-list passengers at lot more than DL pax.

The Southwest effect? My guess is WN lobbied the airport to get rid of priority lines. They did the same thing at Terminal A when they arrived in RDU back in 1999ish. They were not successful.

I hope it stays that way. Keeping SW in Terminal #1 should help, too.

The Terminal #2 priority security line is a great way to save time in the morning. It's usually shorter than the PreCheck line.

Delta is still mum on the subject with absolutely no response. Typical.

I can already tell you what the response will be. They will state it was a change they made based on customer feedback, just like when they eliminated snack boxes on the HOOU, downgraded the booze in the Skyclub, changed the SDC policy, etc.

I've noticed they have recently moved the Pre-Check line to be funneled into the center security checks from both entrances (WN Side and DL/UA side). I wonder if this had anything to do with it?

I'm guessing Delta more than "allowed this to happen". They intentionally chose to remove it.

I wonder if this is a trend from TSA. At BOS Terminal A there is still a SkyPriority line, but it only funnels to the nude-o-scope while the coach (non-elite) line can go to either Pre-Check or the body scanner.

Thus, if you're Pre-Check, you can share the checkpoint with the general populace from the coach line (slowing it down since most people coming over from the coach line are not familiar with the process ) while the SkyPriority line has no chance to get to the Pre-Check checkpoint.
