I also think it's interesting that you say there's a certain level of discomfort in cramming that many pax into a single aisle aircraft when what DL has done is cram a 757 load of people into the much smaller 739. The two aircraft have the exact same number of seats and the end result is pretty apparent.

Just finished a trip which included the 73E. I was upgraded so my thoughts based on that...
I liked it. I thought the legroom was very good; better than on the 738/73H and the 75X. The monitor is terrific but person in front never reclined. Really enjoyed my flight. Sat in 5D. Recline was good, even with closet directly behind. I would not book away from the plane at all, based on first class. And Boeing really knocked it out of the park with the new interior (but I had already experienced that numerous times on UA).
Negatives? Nothing too bad.
I did think the seat bottom cushion wasn't as pleasant as the Weber cushions on the 738/73H and 75X fleet; noticed it right away.
Sitting in row 5, heard the flight attendant ask the guy in 5C several times to raise his seat so she could access the closet. Kind of looked like a little drama but maybe that's an issue.
And, yes, the restroom. It definitely is smaller and the sink is such a cheap contraption I laughed. But it works and there is enough room for a 6'2" guy with a fairly muscular build to move around. Flight attendants were waiting for me to come out and curious to gauge my comments - obviously the 73E bathroom is a talker!
What I don't get about the forward lav is why? Unless the cockpit needed more room, why? And apparently the cockpit bulkhead is the exact same as in all 737NG builds. But it's fine for me. A claustrophobic person might be in trouble however.
Flight attendants seemed the most worked up about it. Just like the M88/M90 and the soon-to-be 752 and 753, they don't like the tighter galley space.

Nice design and usability testing huh. Actually I wouldn't be surprised if the original cabin layout had enough room to use the IFE, but they decided to cram more seats in and so it doesn't fit now.

Just flew on the 739 for the first time earlier this week on SEA-ATL. Really loved it. Only frustration was no satellite TV.

Can someone confirm if the seat back screens tilt or not, I still haven't figured this out and don't want to annoy the person in front.

They do not, although Chris the DL rep, in a post a few pages back, said that things like satellite TV and tilting screens would eventually be added.

Needless to say the guy next to me was pretty happy and is watching The Internship on his iPad.

So I finally flew this plane. And I have to say, it was a much better experience than I expected after reading reviews here.
I actually really likes it. Was in 2C but figured than 1A or B did not seem that bad for bulkheads either, at lest but worse than the 737-800.
1C reclined and I did not feel that the recline was too much. No noticeable difference with any other domestic first class.
The seat was comfy. And I loved the new IFE, both content and screen. The quality of the screen, contrast etc... Is such an improvement from the other domestic IFE. Content is awesome. I personally did not care about the missing live TV.
Yes the bathroom is small, but honestly, it was fine.
It is on the other hand a very small space in the galley for the FA to prepare the meals and drinks. They did complain about it and I an see why. But for the pax, it's great plane and I will definitely never try to avoid this plane. On the contrary.

Live TV is targeted to be available on these birds by the end of this year.

Just stepped off my first flight on this bird ATL-BOS.
Wow....absolutely love it.
Was #2 on the UG for 0 seats by the time we boarded so I sat in 10A.
Are these the same seats in the 767-300s? They seem similar to my CDG-SLC flight I took last month. I have a terrible back but I LOVE these seats. They are the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in in Y. No back pain at all for the 2hr duration.
Clean plane....video screen is HD and sharp as a tack....
The bathroom has the world's loudest toilet; I almost thought I was going to be sucked into it when I pushed the flush button. NO problems with the size of the lav itself and I am 5'10".
Row 10 ABC (10DEF have a bulkhead in front--BEWARE!!) is the best spot to sit on these birds. Infinite legroom as there is no bulkhead and the TV folds up from the floor area.
The USB charger actually charges normal speed, too! Some USB chargers on planes barely charge at all...lol.
I wish I could fly on these all the time! I hope to again soon!
2 thumbs up for the 737-900ER!!!!
NO complaints!

Flew on one for the first time PDX-ATL last week. Been on several 737-900er flights on AS so not exactly my first time.
Seat in front of me reclined and it was a tad awkward to watch the screen but nothing terrible or worth getting too worked up over.
Only minor complaint I would have is having to plug headphones into the screen. Knocked it out a couple of times reaching for my bag.
