Surely something is going to have to give here. There can't be enough slack in the 777 fleet to pick up JFK-TLV and not drop something else, especially with MSP-NRT going to the 777 also. However, I can't find any other 777/744 equipment swaps.
It's also kind of ironic that JFK-TLV gets downgauged before JFK-NRT, which has allegedly been a 744 just to rotate that plane in for TLV service.

Hello FT,
I'm on DL 473 going JFK to NRT on 4/30. I'm trying to figure out which 747 I'll be on (so I can tell if I'll have WiFi or not). Here's what I've figure out so far, just based on FlightAware and the rotation mentioned above:
N673US, N667US, N666US - Have no WiFi, and travel ICN>DTW>NGO>MNL>NGO>DTW>ICN - So out of the question
N672US (w/ WiFi) - Would be on the JFK-TLV outbound on 4/30, no
N671US (w/ WiFI) - Would be on going NRT-MNL on 4/30, no
N670US (w/ WiFi) - Would most likely be going NRT-ATL on 4/30, no
N665US (no wifi) - Would be going NGO-DTW on 4/30, no
N676NW (no wifi) - Would most likely be going ICN-DTW on 4/30, no
N665US (no wifi) - Would be going DTW-ICN on 4/30, no
N663US (no wifi) - Would be going HNL-NRT on 4/30, no
N661US (no wifi) - Would be going NRT-LAX on 4/30, no
N674US (no wifi) - Would be going JFK-TLV on 4/30, no
Can't figure out where N669US, N675NW and N674US would be..
I'm guessing I'll most likely be on N662US? (which has wifi! ^^)
Since it's a ~13 hour flight, it would be great to know if I should load my iPad with movies to watch, or if I'd have access to the internet to work. @DeltaAssist had no clue what tail number I'd be on.. obviously equipment swaps do happen, but assuming there's no IRROPS, it would be great to try and guess what bird I'd be on. It's my first time on a DL 747!

Edit* Oh wait, just enter the tail number into FlightAware... haha man I am dumb =)

Of course, the wifi also has to be enabled. I flew N670US, a wifi equipped 744, on the DL 159 DTW-ICN sector a few weeks ago and the wifi was never available at any point during the flight.

As for AirTheory, looks like you're on N672US today... enjoy the wifi! ^

Thanks!! Hoping it's enabled. I've tweeted to @deltassist 3 times, even asking if N672US had wifi and they said it wasn't available on that plane I didn't realize the TLV bird continues on to NRT in the same "day" (technically TLV-JFK-NRT are all 4/30).

If you mean on the plane, there was never any mention of wifi at all. I asked one of the FAs and her response was that the international fleet is not equipped for wifi, that is only available on domestic flights. I didn't bother to push the issue beyond that.

Konichiwa from 13K - on the Tarmac awaiting take off. Purser confirmed that this was one of the lucky planes with wifi! Mentioned we will lose signal over Russia (as mentioned above). Excited for my first DL 747 trip!

2 more birds have Wifi - N664US finally came out of PVG, and turns out N667US had a wifi installation in DTW during the 8-day stay there at the end of April.
N674US is flying into PVG for maintenance/Wifi, and N673US also spent 6 days in DTW recently, might also have Wifi but someone needs to confirm. Anybody flying ATL-NRT today?
That brings half of the fleet to Wifi-fitted, and turns out it can be done in 8 days, or even 6 (if N673US is in fact fitted), so shouldn't take long to complete.

I'd be pretty jazzed to see the 744s go on the DTW-China routes. There have been many reports of DL trying to put the 744 on ATL-GRU as well. Either way, I'm really curious to see where these planes are going. Lots of route drops, meaning lots of available planes.

We know the N667US has Wifi (recent report from a FTer) and its only break in flying (during the last several months) was 8 days in DTW.
I assumed N673US also had the Wifi installed in DTW in its recent 6-day stop in DTW and I also assumed N669US was getting it since it stopped in DTW on 5/4, but I'm not sure about the Wifi installation on either of those, hence the "not confirmed" notation.
