Flew BE SEA-JFK yesterday and happily it was a josher for Passover meal supplied by Borenstein out of JFK. Cold tray was frozen solid which is fine since I was just happy to have one. The hot chix entree happened to be the same as my flight out before the holiday so I have a feeling their kitchen has been KLP for a few weeks already and just slapped the proper stickers and tape this week.

Nicely struck, Sir/madam! ^^^

The normally functioning human body can go for longer than the longest flights without food, btw.

The meal you posted put up is NOT edible during passover by anyone who observes passover (even if you aren't generally concerned about Kosher)

As a side note - I did get an acceptable Kosher for Passover meal on my MIA-LGA flight earlier this week (did have a Virgin Atlantic Premium Economy napkin in it - but that was just entertaining).
I always send my kids with food, just in case. (16 and 19 years old, AMS-BOS and AMS-DTW-BTV respectively).

If previous trends prevail; my complaint usually yields a credit voucher of $100 per ticket. I never ask for anything; I just bring to their attention that catering messed up, and that it's quite a few days since the start of Passover.

If it's any consolation, my future SIL has Celiac disease, so he always requests a gluten-free dinner. His success rate is about 50/50. On longer flights, he packs his own snacks to ensure that he doesn't go hungry when the airlines fail to deliver.

I agree that the airlines should either quit offering alternative meals or follow through with actually delivering the alternative meals.

This is where there's a night and day difference between US Based legacies like DL and foreign carriers. An airline like JL will track down all the special meal pax during boarding, verify meal selection, place a sticker on the seat top indicating meal preference, and cross check that the meal was actually loaded. Because they do it during boarding they have the ability to call catering if something isn't right.

I don't keep kosher, but I do observe the rules of Passover. When I fly on Passover, I usually just decline the bread and pasta and other items that aren't Pesadic.

Having said that, someone who does keep kosher would absolutely need a KP meal... so it's pretty astonishing to see Kosher meals that aren't KP during Passover.

Agree. Even more amazing; out of a major hub like AMS. (where, there is "local" Kosher catering from Antwerp, among others)

This is just such a useful response.

So, now it's sort of like WFBF, so WMBM (want meal, bring meal?).

You do realize, DaddyRabbit, we are talking about transatlantic "long-haul" flights?

You also do realize, if they are "screwing up" the catering for Y (economy class); they probably also are for BusinessElite.

So, I guess, in your world, DaddyRabbit, if you purchase a 2500-4000€ BusinessElite ticket AMS-BOS/ATL/DTW/PDX/MSP etc. etc. you should BRING FOOD; since, well, of course you can't expect the special meals to be catered properly. Ok, I get it now.

Will have an update a bit later.
My son is boarding DL125 AMS-BOS, in a few moments.

UPDATE :

No Kosher/Passover meals loaded for DL139 AMS-DTW, this afternoon. Informed my daughter they did not have the Kosher meals, giving her fruit instead. I "guess," this is an improvement in that they are at least being proactive about advising (instead of just serving non-Passover Kosher meals).

I'm assuming they did not advise my son prior to departure of the AMS-BOS flight this morning. Will hear from him when he gets to Boston.

Didn't this also happen to your family last year too? I mean seriously why is it so hard for DL to get such a simple thing right? Bottom line is if it was seen as a priority to whoever in airport operations it would get done. They always seem to make appropriate arrangements for the fuel service truck to come. Please report back what, if anything DL says or offers.

I would almost assume that these were the standard Stogel? You'd think they would get it right, and it seems to me somewhat bizarre that they don't.

I plan to do a late-Friday east coast to LAX, First filled today (no surprise given the route), and will be trying to reroute to earlier to make minyan (what *was* I thinking?), so I have a box of egg matzo right here... with that special, 8-year-old heading to shul feeling...

Chag Pesach.
