well, I just got instant approval for an AmEx Platinum card and I already have a AmEx Hilton Gold and an AmEx Delta Gold - so apparently, you can have at least 3 at a time (I'll likely get rid of the Delta Gold now)

Presumably Silver status will be good through the end of February, 2012. If you fly more and reach Gold status during this year, it should be good through February, 2013.

Get 80% Bonus Rather than 50% Bonus Miles
I just transfered 50k MR points over the phone to my skymiles account. I got bonus of 40k miles totaling 90k RDM miles and 25k MQM. I am also signed up for other ongoing offer which provides 30% additional bonus miles for MR transfer. I guess if you add them up, it makes up 80% and thats what I got!

Yes. I know for sure. This is NOT like a GIFT of status. This is EARNED status via MQM so you have status this year and all of next year until FEB2013. Now you can still work on earning GOLD or PLAT or DM and then once you cross each point you will also have that status until FEB2013!

I can confirm that now. I just called Delta and got confirmation about this..I guess this is what makes this offer much better from the one offered in Dec last year. The silver status will be for one extra year until Feb 2013 and you will have until Feb 2013 to earn extra MQMs to upgrade to next status for following years...

For *me* the offer last month was "better" because I was able to get to PM status, without which I would have only had GM this year.
So "better" is relative.

Yeah but you could do it this way. Get the 2 years FREE SILVER status that is worth a bit. Once you have ANY STATUS you can convert points to GIFT CARDS. You can get 7 cards with 77k points and get $700-$450FEE and NET OUT a GAIN of $250

Question About This Deal
I already have Delta Reserve card from Amex, so I'm thinking about getting the AMEX Plat Card for my wife. That way she can get into Skyclubs when not traveling with me (I can already get in using the DL Reserve Card). Here's the question, though. If she gets the Amex Plat Card in her name, can she link the card to my Skymiles account and transfer the 50,000 points to me, so I end up with 75,000 skypesos (50k plus the bonus 25k) in my Skymiles account? And if so, will I get the 25,000 MQMs as the transferee, or would she get them as the transferor?

I am patiently waiting for my 50k to clear so I can book a ticket and I see this. I went ahead and applied for the 30k promotion as well a few minutes ago since they havent cleared yet. Hope it works for me too.

Does the airport lounge access allow you to bring in a guest like Sky Club membership? I don't particularly want to pay a $450 annual fee, but my Sky Club membership will expire soon, and not having to renew that will cover some of the annual fee cost.
