Co-terminal SDC? For PM & DM?

Friend of mine heard from a DL phone rep that SDC is soon going to be allowed for co-terminal airports LGA/JFK/EWR, FLL/MIA and a few others for DM's and PM's.

Anyone else heard anything like this?

Would be a great move indeed, especially if there is a possibility of irops (cough NYC cough).

I know it is a stretch, but can I hope for MCO - TPA?

That would be great, could use it today myself. I just checked with the desk at the LAX SC and they are not familiar with such a policy. Doesn't mean your friend is wrong, only that they are not aware of it.

Given that many people pay $50 for a SDC, it would actually make sense to me to allow it for everyone, not just PMs/DMs. It's not like it costs the airline anything extra for someone to fly out of co-terminal A rather than co-terminal B. It would be more customer-friendly, and it would offer alternatives when someone willing to pay the $50 couldn't find a new flight from the original airport, as in, "I'm sorry, sir, the 1 p.m. flight you want from LAX is full but I can put you on the flight from Orange County at 12:50 p.m. if you would like. That'll be fifty bucks, please."

I mean, SDC fees are literally found money for the airline. The easier you make it for people to give you $50 for something that costs you nothing, the more revenue you gain.

Exactly the reason why international Mileage upgrades from any fare class on the DOD make sense.

I'd rather have an expanded SDC time window than co-terminals. I hate taking chances on a later flight and waking up at 3am for the earliest flight out.
