Delta Ground Staff BBQ near plane/under gate A7 tonight...
Sooo...if a picture says a thousand words:
As I pull into gate A7 in ATL this evening; I notice what appears to be a BBQ taking place. When I look closer, sure enough, one of the ground staff is taking large slabs of chicken out of a cooler and placing it on a grill, not 15ft from the base of a 757. They even had the thought of placing a chair in front of the girll.

Why is it hilarious that a bunch of employees had a BBQ? What if it was a going away party? A birthday party? A celebration for good performance sponsored by mgmt? The fact that some group of employees is actively preparing food for themselves seems so normal to me that I fail to see why it's hilarious. I mean, office parties happen all the time? What's the difference?

This reminds me that it's time to drag out the barbecue grill I keep stashed at work again, actually - although I must admit I'm envious of their awesome setup. It might be time for my colleagues and I to upgrade

Personally, I highly doubt that complies with local fire code, if the grill is actually underneath the jetway. Most local fire codes specify that grills must be used at a minimum distance from any overhanging physical structure, to minimize the risk of exposure-related fires.
