>"we talked to a lady once who said she was on the ship 10 months each year..."
And she has been doing it for years. The itinerary rarely varies. If the ship goes into dry dock, she gets the royal treatment in whatever port the ship is berthed. There used to be a woman who lived on the QEII I think. Captain would have tea with her on a regular basis.
Me? Having done 5 weeks, 3 is my max tolerated any more!

i would probably be fine on residensea (with kitchen and living room) excluding crossings. otherwise agree - only a yacht of reasonable size (not claustrophobic plus good common areas) with good stabilizers. back when nomade / bora bora was running, would have been happy to do that year round when they werent chartered. sad there is nothing else like it. should have gone last year.

"About $450 is my daily average cost. It’s pricey, but luckily my husband was an excellent provider."
I would say so! Good for her!

I was noodging my husband as I read that aloud to him Love that she mentions there are others on board doing the same thing - but she's been doing it longer ^ And that she moved from HAL to Crystal because of the dance companions

smallest studios are/were under a million
seem to recall a few of the small studios had kitchens

World cruise fan
We totally enjoyed our 104 day world cruise last year. It was indeed a full circumnavigation of the world. I highly recommend seeing the world this way. We got a penthouse for more space and butler. I loved it. I cried when the cruise ended. They had to pry me off the ship. There is a special forum for world cruising.
I know this is flyertalk and not cruise talk. Still let me tell you the virtues of cruise travel. We arrived non-jet lagged and comfortable all over the world. I did a blog. If you are truly interested in reading my trip report you can PM me.
BTW we did get double AMEX MR points for the trip.

The longest I've been on is a mere 14 days. Sailing out of Sydney to Tasmina and then New Zealand and back to Sydney. It was fun! I do like cruising but at this stage of my life, can't spend too much time away from land.

I just spent 17 days on the Silverseas Discoverer. About 10 days too long. Or more. I was really thinking about the cruise as substitute for assisted living until I really thought about it.
