End of Sotheby's Mastecard

I applied for and the Sotheby's mastercard sometime ago and have had the card, although used it sparingly. Today, I received a letter from them indicating that the program has been cancelled and that all points must be used before March of next year or will be forfeited.

I imagine the program was not successful.

Yeah. I saw this posted on the Credit Boards forums.

The Sotheby's World Elite MasterCard is going away. The World card will stay it seems.

Appears they are not accepting new apps -- i.e. inviting people or keeping accounts current for those that already have. Nor is GE Money Bank moving people to another card product.

Too bad. I best MasterCard is disappointed. They want to build their World Elite platform not contract it. So now there is only Saks, Ameriprise, and Fifth Third World Elite products.

According to the representative I spoke with today, the ENTIRE product has been discontinued.

Does anyone have any more insight?

I was told that they just will not be taking applications until the beginning of next year.
