Read post 844 for tips on being approved for the business card.
It may be easier to get approved for a new business with 0 years and $0 gross income.

Also see the Applying for Business Credit Cards [Consolidated] thread (not-BofA-specific) for general tips on applying for business cards.

Business card Recon Line:
April 2024: BOA Biz Recon (Small Biz Lending, Credit Analyst) 888-782-7717, 888-569-4439 (M-F 8am-7pm EST), both answered by live human in 2-4 minutes. (Both numbers confirmed multiple times in the past 2-3 days.)
866-695-6598 (8-7pm EST M-F)
Biz card status line: 888 663 6262 (not working)
Biz Card credit analyst line: 888-782-7717
Biz card expedited shipping: wait 24 hours after approval for a card number to generate then call 800-901-9830 and a person will answer. If 1st Rep says "no" ask him/her to ck. with a supervisor. This worked for me.

Credit Inquiries
Credit Inquiries for Personal cards come from BofA. Inquiries for business cards come from FIA.
Credit bureaus usually merge inquiries from the same requester made on the same day.
Inquiries from BofA and FIA will not be merged.

Does one have to call BoA to lower a card's credit limit?
Yes, there is no longer any way to contact BOA online. Phone is the only method currently.

When do the initial bonus miles post? You will get the miles after the statement closes for the cycle in which you meet your minimum spend. Usually AS points show up the Sunday evening after your statement closes, but sometimes it takes an additional week.

If there's a statement credit, when does it post?
It seems to be batch-processed. It will post automatically. Can be on the same statement or the next statement. It does not appear to be based on the statement close date.

Can you send a secure message through your account online?
No. BOA has removed the secure message functionality, even for Preferred members. The only way to contact BOA now is to call them.

Can I apply for another personal Alaska card if I have one open already?
Some people still can, but these days many people get denied. If you don't want to risk getting denied, it's probably better if you close any existing personal Alaska cards before applying for another one. But be sure to lower credit limit as low as possible at least a few business days before you close the card (though the earlier you can do it the better), because credit limit that's left on the card when you close it stays unavailable to new card applications for a year or more (while credit limit that's lowered as a separate step becomes available to new card applications much sooner)!

I have both. Just be honest on your application and read back a few pages in this thread.

New to the Alaska card party and thinking about getting it for an upcoming flight to Hawaii so I can use the companion pass. Question about the companion pass, does it work for one-way flights or is it roundtrip only? Are there any other "catches" with it that I'm missing?

Works for one way flights as well as open jaw flights (i.e., fly JFK-LAX-DCA). It is also super useful because you don't have to be flying to use it- so you could buy a flight for a friend and his/her spouse/child/friend could be the companion.

You can use the companion pass to and/or from Hawaii and also use miles to upgrade to first

I was instantly approved for the Signature card. My wife's application went pending so we called recon and she was approved for the Signature card after a "fraud check".

Hitting a brick wall with these cards. I got 3 personal and 3 business cards in 2016, all lowered and closed after miles posted, and this year in January, 1 personal card approved. Ever since, its been instant decline and decline after reconsideration. Stating "too many accounts with us and our affiliates". So I am assuming they are counting closed accounts as well. So after 5 months (last application was April, decline and decline), I applied for the AS personal card again 3 days ago. Instant decline, FICO 818 on TU which is what they pull. Reconsideration was a hard no, asked to speak to a manager rudely told no and stop asking. Ridiculous. So I tried my luck with the Business card. Instant decline. Called in and reconsideration and decline again. Asked to speak to a manager and offered to open with $1500 in a CD for a minimum of 1 year. Asked to speak to another manager and finally compromised. They were willing to move 5000 from my Merrill Lynch + card (10,000 limit) to open the business one so 5000 each. This is the hardest card to get approved for outside of Chase I assume. What a hassle. I get instant approvals with every Citi and Amex card.

In case they're counting pulls, do you realize that "trying too often" can actually lower your chances instead of increasing them?

B of A Alaska business recon - 1 year CD

So my wife got denied for the B of A Alaska biz card and got a letter a week later saying they may be able to open the card if it's secured with a 1 year CD, minimum $1500 balance. This is actually the second time in a row this has happened to her and I tried to recon it last time for a regular CC account, to no avail. Now I'm wondering if I should just go for it and open the CD, it's not too much money to tie up for a year.

But I'm wondering if anyone in the community has actually followed through with this offer? Did you end up receive the 30k Alaska miles normally? Was the process relatively painless?

Thanks

Maybe try to the BOA travel rewards business card to set up the relationship with BOA. I wonder if that might be easier to start with than a co branded card.

I just started getting AS cards (2 personal , 1 bus) and now also have BOA travel personal and business which are NAF so I plan on keeping them open

BTW, $260 in travel rewards for spending $1000 on the cards ( $520 total) is also a pretty good deal and points can be combined between accounts.

Got a call today telling me that secondary review decided against approving me for the business card. They told me my only option was CD for $1500 for a year, for a secured card that could graduate into an unsecured card...joke. Stated limited history with BofA Business cards, which is ridiculous because I had 3 unsecured business cards last year each with credit limits of 10k, 10k, and 12k. Seriously ticked off by the whole ordeal. They told me they could approve by shifting limits, and the called the next day basically saying "just kidding". So I guess I have to go through the hassle of the CD route for my much deserved 30k miles.

If at all possible never end a personal or business relationship with a bank, BOA has at least one NAF business card and personal card, Travel Rewards

Wow, two similar cases. BofA is tightening things up!

There've been quite a few cases, as early as this February, of people being denied for a biz card unless they open a $1500 CD. It seems to always be exactly $1500, so if you search this thread for "$1500" you will find the other cases. Post 73, post 116, post 196, and there may be others.

I don't use my legit business for CC apps anymore. If you tell them your numbers they will often times ask for supporting documents. A new business with no income has no documents in existence, so they can't ask for something that obviously doesn't exist yet.
