Current welcome offer is 50,000 30,000 Crystal points with $5,000 $3,000 spending in the first 90 days. First annual fee not waived. (as of telephone call with bank employee 8/7/2019)

Past bonuses were:

***** #1502 - signup bonus 1/16/18 BUT ANNUAL FEE NOT WAIVED ******

100,000 points after spending $5,000 in first three months. Offer expires 30 December 2015. EXPIRED

A 70,000 points offer was offered back in March 2017 and expired March 31st, 2017. EXPIRED

The requirements for the application process varies from bank to bank based on various online data points collected from FlyerTalk, Doctor of Credit, etc.

Some banks require that you go into a branch and apply personally. Other banks want you to have another account open for 90 days before you can get this card. Some banks (if you already have a relationship with them) let you apply via mail. Sometimes you have to be a resident of the state they operate in, while some were able to get the card without living in those states. It is very much YMMV. You will need proof of income (W2, check stubs, etc). The only states City National Bank operates in are: NY, DE (only trust office, no go), DC, GA, TN, MN, NV & CA. The bank is looking for high net worth individuals, but that's not exactly consistent either.

The card has no foreign transactions fees and is fee-free the first year, then $400 annually.

Register your card for online access (cno.cnb.com). This changed on Sept 19 2019.
Register separately for the award page (www.cnbrewards.com).
Register for Visa Infinite info and access at https://myvisainfinite.com/cnb/en_us/home.html
Click "my info" to see details on points awarded.

Wow! OK, thanks. Yeah, this card is definitely worth the required homework to maximize its value, but I haven't had to remember to pay a monthly bill in years.

Other oddities: Why is the "City National" on the front of the card not the same logo as the bank (it appears correctly on the back)?

And why does the "international customer service" number on the back of the card have an extra digit? This one is more alarming, as poor proofreading suggests a sloppily run business, so the extra zero means I expect some bumps along the way...as there have been.

There was a rumor on one of the blogs that City National would be bringing back a sign on bonus for this card. Anybody hear anything?

redeeming points for airfare?

I'm having trouble actually booking air travel using cnb points. Going through the cnb rewards portal, I can search and select flights, it displays the points needed and when I choose the flight I see a page that says "step 1 complete" but I don't see any button or link to proceed from there.

Anybody know what I am missing?

thanks

I had the same issue but figured out the problem -- apparently sometimes when you first set up the online account and enter your answers to the security questions, some or all of them don't save properly. You can tell if this has happened by signing into your profile on a computer that is already "trusted" and looking at your security questions. If the questions you chose are there but the answers are blank (not "hidden" with asterisks but completely blank), then they didn't save properly and trying to answer them during sign in on a new computer will fail.

The solution is to put the answers back in and resave them. Then everything should work properly.

This is truly a magnificent card, too bad I only apply it on Dec 21 2015, and received the card on Dec 31 2015 with next day shipping. got all the goodies from it around Jan 2016, then I applied another 3 AU cards, to my surprise, I received them the next day in 3 different Fedex next day envelope. Just wait for AU's PP select pass now.

From my experience, I was $20 shy of $5000 if not considering the airline fees but I got the bonus, so I don't think those airline fee refund reduce the total spend. If you look at their accounting on the points, points are earned even on these airline fees as well.

I have real incidental charges for extra luggage from Ryanair but I haven't got credit for those. When I called in, the rep said that I would have to wait 6-8 weeks, does this sound right? Or is it that the system didn't realize those were incident charges since you all got PGGM credited so quick

Isn't Ryanair UK based? I don't think you will see a credit. Here are the Ts and Cs.

Qualifying Airline Purchases are defined as incidental airline fee transactions made at eligible US-Domestic Airline Carriers (each an "Eligible Airline") on domestic itineraries and include: seat upgrade charges, ticket change/cancellation fees, checked baggage fees, in-flight entertainment, onboard food and beverage charges, airport lounge membership fees and day passes, onboard wireless charges (excluding Gogo Wireless)

That would be great. Has anybody applied for the card since the bonus promo ended? Are the other benefits worthwhile a credit pull?

I want at least $500 value per credit pull. Without the 100k points, the benefits are still more than that. How much more depends on how much you want to take advantage of it with a lot of AU cards.

I'm still kind of scratching my head thinking "what's the catch" but it really doesn't appear that there is one. I simply searched for the flights, selected the ones that I would have on United's site, and booked them. They showed up in my Mileage Plus account immediately as ticketed (at the full fare) and I'm waiting to see them show up on my statement including the discount. FWIW, the SFO-PHX one was booked using an AU card, not the primary. The discount was honored on that card as well.

All in all, the discounts I've gotten in the first couple days of using this card have paid for what the annual fee would have been. I'm very happy!
How do you book those? Also does it work for one way?

Just my wild guess. The CLEAR membership benefit is going to vanish on 15 February. I guess there will be something new when their business opens again on 16 February.
