The requirements for the application process varies from bank to bank based on various online data points collected from FlyerTalk, Doctor of Credit, etc.
Some banks require that you go into a branch and apply personally. Other banks want you to have another account open for 90 days before you can get this card. Some banks (if you already have a relationship with them) let you apply via mail. Sometimes you have to be a resident of the state they operate in, while some were able to get the card without living in those states. It is very much YMMV. You will need proof of income (W2, check stubs, etc). The only states City National Bank operates in are: NY, DE (only trust office, no go), DC, GA, TN, MN, NV & CA. The bank is looking for high net worth individuals, but that's not exactly consistent either.
The card has no foreign transactions fees and is fee-free the first year, then $400 annually.
Register your card for online access (cno.cnb.com). This changed on Sept 19 2019.

Just applied today in Manhattan. A few notes...
4. The representative said the airline fee credit was per account, not per card, since all cards on one account have the same card number. He said one could add up to 7 authorized users to an account, so it makes sense that they wouldn't reimburse $4000 of airline fees in the first cardmember year. But nothing is 100% certain in this business!

Here are the actual terms: Under the Airline Incidental Fees Statement Credit benefit, each cardholder under the Crystal Visa Infinite Card account ("Account") may receive a discount up to $250 per calendar year for Qualifying Airline Purchases (as defined below) charged to the cardholder's Crystal Visa Infinite Card ("Cardholder Card").

I applied last week and received notification today that my card was approved and I'd be receiving it within 2 weeks. The rep mentioned during the application they may require a savings account but I did not need to do it just then.
Given that the approval has already occurred, am I still obliged to open a savings account? In the approval email, the rep asked me which I'd like to open but I have not yet responded. I plan on meeting the 5k spend the day I get the card. I'd rather not go through the process of closing two accounts if I don't have to.

CNB's protocol seems to be routing a lot of requests through the Relationship Banker. I would want to be on her good side.

Just applied today in Manhattan. A few notes...
1. The promotion has been extended through the end of the year, so it is not necessary to be approved (or even apply by) today.
2. I came in with copies of tax returns, asset statements, and a zillion pay stubs, since I work freelance and have no regular employer. The representative made some copies of each. I was not asked to open a bank account.
3. Since they're swamped with applications, the turnaround time for approval or denial is currently around 2 weeks.

He said one could add up to 7 authorized users to an account, so it makes sense that they wouldn't reimburse $4000 of airline fees in the first cardmember year. Interesting development. I was nervous since my CNB relationship manager called today asking for additional clarification on my credit report. I asked if the card would be approved today since the promo ends today. He said it will be fine even if I'm approved after 11/30 since they can back date the approval (as long as I applied on or before 11/30). But if CNB is extending the promo, then it's a moot point anyways.
Really curious to see if the airline fee credit will be $250 per card!

All cards on one account do not have the same card number. My AU card has a completely different card # than my husband's primary card.

I was told it was extended through 12/24. I was approved yesterday with a 10k limit. Can't wait to get this card! My banker also told me the card has gotten so popular that they're no longer requiring a savings account or any other account to be open with it.

Hah - same here (Los Angeles specifically). Anyway to my earlier question, I asked the RM about the savings account no longer being required. No response yet but will report back. Otherwise, I'll take geclub's advice.

I feel like with the 100k point offer and fee-free for the first year, this really is the best card out there. It beats or matches all the benefits of Amex Platinum and I don't know if anyone saw the latest email, but now Grocery stores are 3x points per $1. I don't want to call it 1% back card because it really is a range from 0.85%-0.95% back based on the gift card redemption values, but this card is awesome! I'm considering even paying the annual fee now especially because PGGM works.
