Datapoints:
There is a $90 AF and one cannot earn the 90K in one year unless one does $25K spending.
Best way to add to initial purchase bonus of 20K is to add AUs (and quite a few of them, too!).

Also a note on fees, they reduced the UK exit fee for kids. I got a decent refund on my flights next summer, not sure if it is for business or not.
It is also a good value when looking at close-in bookings. I know I recently booked an economy one way for a family member LAX-LHR two weeks out and could have done it with United or AA miles. The out of pocket difference was was going to be $55 between United/AA and VS (AA and United charge $75 for close-in bookings), but VS was only 21,250 miles. Yeah AA was 20k but my family member had never flown on VS and wanted to experience it.

The part about AU needing SS#. I read about it on other forums, blog, etc.

I can't copy and paste the pic. but it looks like this (I am just counting bonus, not the miles earned from spending)

20k bonus miles when you make your first purchase.
50k bonus miles when you make at least 12k in 6months
up to 5k when you add AU
up to 15k bonus miles every anniversary after qualifying purhcases.

up to 90k total bonus.
How long do the miles take to post once you make your first purchase? Thanks!

I must have just hit the spend, logged on and saw 92k; I have had the card for around 5 months. After reading this thread I assume I should just go ahead and get a second card and do it again; I don't see the logic in keeping this card until the anniversary date - $95 for 15k doesn't seem much of a deal. I have been checking the UC inventory for 2 seats ORD-LHR and it does seem decent so if I pick up another 90k use 160k to fly R/T to London then convert the balance to Honors. It seems the taxes/fees will run around $2000, not bad for what I assume would cost at least $8000 if purchased? Am I missing something?

You don't need to pay second annual fee for 7.5k or 15k. I received 15k before annual fee posted to my account and then canceled it.

Thanks I will keep it and see what happens. Last night I called to apply for a second card using code VACAU8, the web clearly states 20k -50k -15k, however she said she could only see a 40k offer so I hung up and applied on line; was given instant approval. Once I get the card I will call and hopefully confirm the better offer applies.

Every month, on your credit card statement, we'll show the number of miles you've earned that month. Please note that Flying Club miles will be allocated to your Flying Club account at the beginning of each calendar month. Therefore, dependent on when you receive your statement, it may be possible that miles do not show on your credit card statement until the following month.

My statement closes today. I'm hoping the bonus miles post asap and this relates only to "earned" miles through spending.

Are you sure about this? I have met the requirement for 7.5k anniversary bonus, but I have not seen it posted yet. The T&C for new application says

"7,500 anniversary Flying Club miles will be posted to your Flying Club account when you spend a minimum of $15,000 in Net Purchases within the anniversary year with your card. An additional 7,500 anniversary Flying Club miles will be awarded when you spend $25,000 in Net Purchases within the anniversary year with your card. Earned Anniversary Flying Club miles will be posted to your Flying Club account each year within four to six weeks of the anniversary of your card’s open date."

This is normal. The bonus should appear on the same statement as the renewal annual fee. However, in some years Bank of America has added incorrectly, and the bonus did not post automatically. If this occurs you will need to be very persistent to have the points posted without waiting for another statement.

vah4883 said that he/she received the 15k bonus points for spending $25k before the second annual fee posted. My reply was to confirm that.

Now, in your case, did the bonus points show up at the same time as the renewal annual fee or before?
