*** Historical information follows: ***

Do not use a Preferred Application (10K Anniversay bonus) if you are not Preferred Elite. The reconsideration csr said as of December 11, 2014 the Preferred numbers are programmed in their computer and non-Preferred are immediately kicked out with no credit check. You cannot apply for any Barclays card for 30 days after rejection.

from the rejection letter I received:
The Dividend Miles number you provided on the application does not currently reflect a Preferred Status within the Dividend Miles program, and unfortunately this offer is only available to Dividend Miles members with Preferred Status. A credit report was not used in making this determination.

Note: If you are an existing cardholder of the older version of this card with a perpetual anniversary bonus, please ask account questions here:
[EXPIRED] Fee waived, US Airways Card, 30K + 10k @ anniversary

Check Application Status

Current offers:
There is a new (as of Dec. 4, 2014) public offer for 50,000 bonus miles after the first purchase, $89 annual fee is not waived:
http://www.worldgotbigger.com/us-airways-credit-card/

There is also an offer for 50k now and 10k at first anniversary, for preferred members only, reported by jrobinson5 in Post 935 - but see that post for the link and that user's difficulties with it.

Older offers that may still work:

50k Offers - There are individually targeted offers circulating for a 50k signup bonus. No one has yet identified a way to apply without actually receiving a personalized code from Barclays in advance.

40k miles after first purchase; $89 annual fee NOT waived [This is the standard public offer]

40k miles after first purchase plus 10k miles at first (and only first) anniversary; $89 annual fee NOT waived [Note: For"Preferred Members Only"; for similar offers, this has been sporadically enforced - see the anniversary miles thread below for historical data]

Alternately, there is a long-running 35,000 mile offer with first year fee waived and 10,000 miles every anniversary:

Fee waived, no spend, US Airways Card, 35K (WIKI) Now dead - However, see that thread for 30k + 10k anniversary offer

(All offers with perpetual anniversary bonus are no longer available)

FAQ's
What will happen to this card when American and US Airways mileage plans are merged ?
The best information we has says that when that happens, Barclays will no longer be able to issue new cards, but your existing card will continue to be serviced by Barclays and become an American Airlines "red" credit card with benefits similar to the Citi AA Platinum card now issued (http://mommypoints.boardingarea.com/...erican-merger/)

Can I churn this card?
Yes

When can I apply for my 2nd/3rd/etc cards?
The general consensus is that you wait 6 months between applications with calling for recon significantly reducing your chances (better to get instant approval). YMMV. Note that in late 2014 there were several successful reports of people applying sooner than 6 months.

Do I have to close already existing accounts before applications for subsequent cards?
No but as always, YMMV

What's the reconsideration line number?
1-866-408-4064. Only open M-F, 8am-5pm Eastern time.
1-866-951-1437, After-hours (24/7)

When do the bonus miles post?
The annual fee will usually be charged in the first billing cycle. So assuming you made another purchase of at least $0.01 during the first billing cycle, the bonus miles will be credited to your account on the second billing cycle. If the AF doesn't post until the 2nd cycle, and you wait til the stmt. appears, your miles will not post until the 3rd cycle.

Key things to note with these new cards:
1. The previous cards waived the first year's annual fee and offered 10k for holding the card another year whereby the annual fee was charged. FTers, however, reported that Barclays did not clawback the 10k bonus after cancelling the card shortly after the AF posted.

2. The new cards' T&Cs this time explicitly state that the bonus will post upon payment of the AF (which is not waived) given that the fee isn't rescinded.

-Does this mean they will clawback the points?
Not enough data to confirm this

-If they don't plan to clawback the miles, how do they enforce the new terms?
They could, in theory, award the bonus after the period in which you could request a refund of the AF expires

Can I make a purchase and pre-pay the $89 AF prior to the first statement posting and receive the bonus miles?
Maybe. As of now, there are at least three data points stating this has been done successfully. Make a purchase of $0.01 $1 or more then use bill pay to make the payment and include the $89 AF (e.g. - a $1 purchase requires a $90 payment). If done correctly, the bonus miles (and the spend miles) will post on your first statement and to US Airways one day after the statement closes.

However, there are at least 2 reports (see #400) of having done the above and the AF did not bill in the first cycle (hence no posting of sign up bonus in that cycle). See the post for a possible explanation.

PLEASE POST if you applied again (FEB-APRIL, 2015), and after approval, ACTUALLY GOT the eligible bonus second time around after your approval and one time spend. That's really what peeps want to know.

Would you guys recommend opening a US airways card immediately to try and take advantage of 2 cards(6 months apart) before the merger? Or do you think I'm better off waiting a month or 2 for a better offer(which a lot of people are expecting), but then risking not being able to open a 2nd card before the merger.

The targeted offers going around are only for 10K more miles...I think if there were a better offer to come down the road they wouldn't be targeting people for a 50K bonus. But that's just my opinion.

Got my 1st Arrival+ in Nov 2013 and 1st US Air in Aug 2014. Might try for a 2nd US Air card in Feb 2015 if it's still available. Anyone here got auto approved for a 2nd US Air card while still having an Arrival+ and US Air open?

Or should I not risk it and apply for the US Air Business card instead?

I had no trouble applying for it with the link posted in this thread. Others here have been successful, too.

Got 50K offer in mail for my parent. Applied for myself on Saturday. Initially got pending, later denied from online status check. Called recon today and CSR mentioned I currently have the same product (back from Aug 2013). I said I wanted to have a separate account for my parent and keep track of separate spending. CSR did not buy it and suggested me to apply for a different product if I'd like a separate account for my parents.

Datapoint:

As I have been overseas for the past six months, I have not really taken the opportunity to apply for any cards but the Citi Exec in the last six months.

I normally am no longer used to the "instant approval screen", but finally got one! I was given a 12.5k CL. For the 40k after first purchase. This would be my 4th Barclays US Air Card. All other previous cards have been cancelled. I last held one in December '13, so its been a while!

My wife was targeted with the 50K offer, applied and was approved a couple days ago. She then received another 50K offer in the mail yesterday. Any risk in applying in my name using her offer code from the latest targeted offer? We both have the same credit history and have never been denied for any card/credit in the past. I just want to make sure that if they don't approve me for the 50K I will at least get the 40K offer. Thanks!

Hi I saw in the wiki that we should prolly wait 6 months between cards. But should I wait 6 months even between applications? My last application is at September, where Barclays straight up decline me without pulling my score due to too many recent applications....

I have tried to apply for this card since March, and I have always get that "too many recent applications and no credit score was pulled" denial letter.

Since my TU shows that my last credit card applied was at March, and my last TU Pull is at March as well. Do you think I should apply again and just call recon to ask them review it?

TIA
-Pete

I don't know, but I can tell you this:

If you think all that Barclays looks at is TU pulls, you're mistaken. They look at actual credit card opens and closes on the credit report, which show up on TU even if applying for the card didn't show up on TU. (At least, the humans do; I'm not sure if the "automatic approval" attempt computers do.)

So it's not necessarily enough to just shift a giant amount of churning to non-TU-pulling banks. That doesn't really hide it from Barclays (except churning so recent that the cards opened from it don't show up on any credit reports yet).

Thanks for your reply. My situation is actually just like what you said in your last sentence. All my churning for this month has not yet shown up in my TU yet. That is why I want to give it a try.. Just as I said in my first post, currently in terms of my TU report, My latest card is at March and my last pull is also at March, I feel like once my three other cards show up on my report, my chance might be even slimmer...

I will think about it and I will keep you guys updated if I decide to apply.

Thanks.
-Pete

I've been churning this card every 6 months or so for the last couple of years. Just got my first denial. Denial said that I already have sufficient credit lines open.

I've also been churning this for my wife on the exact same schedule, and yet her app was approved.

From experience the "new accounts" and large amounts of existing credit lines factors way more than hard pulls with Barclay instant approval. Also, new accounts tend to show up on credit reports within a week after approval.

Experience is with 4 instant approvals of this card each for 6 people.
