Fyi- applied for the 35k and was able to call and have the 50k honored by being just a little pushy.

When annual fee came along, called and with no trouble at all had it waived (saying i didnt want to cancel it) and they gave me 5000 free points.

Definitely worth getting this card.

I got an email the next day with approval. But, the you had to put in a personal code that came with the mailer. So, I assume only I could get it. I wanted my husband to get a card also but I guess I will have to wait until he gets something in the mail.

Hawaiian Airlines MasterCard offer 50k mi for $1k in 3mo

Targeted via snail-mail. My website still shows 35k offer.
Details:
- Annual Fee $89 due, is not held first year.
- 50,000 HA miles
- required spend $1,000 in 3 months
- no Foreign Trans Fees
- 2x on HA purchases, otw 1x, as per usual with airline cards

Pros:
+ generous bonus 50k vs usual 35k...
+ ...especially given very low spend requirement
+ low AF ($89)
+ good earning multiplier for some local (808) shops...if this is still on
+ Award availability is high and easy to book on website

Cons:
- AF not held first year
- Award redemptions low cpm value
- targeted offer(?)
- partner award redemption has historically been very hard/impossible

So what about you people: any similar offers? Takers? Any further trends toward easier award bookings on partner airlines? (someone on FT recently had a fairly easy booking on VS...which is encouraging, if not typical)

i got this offer in snail mail as well, after waiting for nearly 3 months, i went ahead and applied as the offer was expiring first week of may.

I had around 90k Hawaii airline miles and the additional 51k would be nice to top it off.....Instant approval.....the biggest plus for me was the low 1k spend for 50k bonus.....have applied for too many cards recently so min spend was a big deal for me...

can you elaborate on >> + good earning multiplier for some local (808) shops...if this is still on
?

What is this?

I used it to top off my Hilton account when the sign-up bonus was 50k miles. I transferred to my Hilton account for 75,000 HHonor points. Not too shabby for only $1k spending.

I might do this too, I got 50K recently and have other options for flights, Hawaii not necessarily at the top of the list.

Depends on what you want to do. Personally, I accrue miles always with a specific travel experience in mind. I wanted to experience an HA flight from the mainland to Hawaii rather than inter-island usage of miles. So, I got the card and worked on accumulating enough miles on HA to fly F from SEA to OGG for my husband and myself. We enjoyed the mainland flight service very much and recommend it. The inter-island service is reliable and so frequent that HA really has it down regarding that service.

50k Offer

I made an award booking yesterday on HA and when I got to the screen to pay after I checked credit card but before I put in any account number a pop up came up for the 50K offer. I clicked on it, applied, and was immediately approved.

I just tried again with a mock booking (choose any dates and flights) and as I worked through entering my info again the same offer popped up. So.......simply go to the HA website and begin to make a booking and you'll get the offer.

Just tried it; immediately approved.

An interesting note: Even though this card is still Barclays, the card itself, and the information you get on your Barclays account webpage once approved, states "Bank of Hawaii".
