There is an Amazon Payments thread in the Manufactured Spend forum that would probably answer your question. The answer is yes as long as you never log in to these accounts from the same computer (IP address on devices should never be the same when logging in to either account, so I'm not sure how wifi factors in) .

I know all about AP, just seeing if he could use that instead of buying AZ GCs ;)

Thanks. Verified with Citi people.

Also, got denied for Plat MC t+32 hours after getting approved for Plat Visa. Citi application status folks confirmed that there was only one hard pull. That is, the 2nd application was deemed too soon, and thus there was no second pull.

It seems the Gold 30K MC dead

Just a data point.
I applied for business master 40k yesterday and was approved instantly.

This will be my 7th AA cards:
Gold AA Master card (since 2002)
Platinum select Visa (since 2009)
Platinum select Amex (since 2013/2) 2nd card, 1st one already cancelled.
Business Master (since 2013/6)
Business Visa (since 2011) 2nd card, 1st one already cancelled.

Applied for the Plat Select MC 40k on Friday, 6/7. Went into pending at step 3 because of frozen Equifax file. Got an email on 6/8 telling me to call with Equifax pin so they could further review. Attempting to get two US Bank cards approved before I follow up on this one and then apply for the 40k Business MC.

Previous Citi Apps:
HHonors 2/4
AAdv Biz Visa 3/20

Is there any point of keeping this card open if it's not your main CC? I don't use this card at all, and unless I were buying a flight on AA, I can't seem to come up with a reason to keep the card...I got the bonus, and that's all I wanted. I guess the other benefit would be delaying the expiration of miles, but I'll probably use the miles before then. (Talking about the $750/4 mo. MC).

The perks on this card just aren't that great (to me).

If you're not going to use it, no there is no use in keeping the card especially since it has an annual fee. Wait at least 6 months to cancel and best to cancel close to the date the annual fee will become due - you may get a retention offer of having that fee waived which will allow you to keep it open for another year.

Seems that way. This link for applying for the Platinum MC (40k mi for spending $3k) is still working:

If you already have a Platinum Visa, I wonder if you can you get this Platinum MC since it's a different card (assuming you submit an app same day)?

If you cancel right before the fee hits, how does a retention bonus work? A CSR calls you and offers to reactivate? Or, do you call to cancel, and a CSR tries to talk you down?

I have 2 personal Platinum lv cards now (Amex and Visa Signature). Both got approved in Jan 2013. Not sure if a good time to get a new Platinum lv MC. Any comments?

When you call to cancel they may transfer you to their retention departement who will try to convince you to keep the card instead of cancelling by offering you something to do so.

I'm not really so well versed in retentions because I haven't signed up for tons of cards the past few years (so whatever I have I basically keep or convert to fee free version), but there is a lot of discussion about it in this thread:

Sorry, I meant to say "(assuming you don't submit an app same day)."

I think the issue now is the "class" (plat versus gold) of the card not the "type" (Visa/MC/Amex) of the card. So you can't apply for 2 of the same "class" anymore, doesn't matter the type.

Citi bank is absolutely the worst bank to deal with (I have Chase, AmEx, Discover cards, cut off BoA because they were awful and avoid them since that time). So now I am dealing with Citi. Big mistake to apply for their cards. Customer service (including supervisors) not trained and give different info every time. Cannot wait to close them and take out of my wallet.
