That generally depends how many recent accounts you have opened in the last few months not just with barclays. This bank can really be a hit or miss. One thing I would do just in case is freeze the credit report on 2 out of 3 agencies so that if you call recon, they won't pull from all 3 as they notoriously are known to do

The 50 K offer has been around:

If you are based in the US and want to be frugal, the only good use for the 50k M&M are to buy UA domestic awards which are really charged at the domestic rates on the award chart and have no fuel surcharge(s). The rest all attracts a hefty fuel surcharge the BAEC card holder cringe at, but you have access to LH/LX/OS inventory that Chase UR / UA MP / US DM redeemers dream of.
LOT and all United / US Airways awards (even intl) don't have fuel surcharge.

But yes...the most frugal choice looks like the domestic US option, esp in first class. A roundtrip in PS business class lie flat plus an extra one way another time for 52500 miles is my plan for the miles.

I wouldn't normally use my United miles for that, I save those for big international trips, but since it's a one time shot here PS business for $79 and a credit pull works for me.

Not a lot of people looking to go to Poland, but those NY / ORD LOT flights are on sale for 55k ROUNDTRIP in business class if booked by the end of June. That may be worth an SPG transfer.

Can one mix star and non-star on LH awards?

Very hefty fuel charges on their metal. Really devalues the worth of the miles. About the best you'll do for 50k without paying fuel surcharges through the nose is a partner flight to the Mexico/Caribbean area or to Hawaii. Maybe somebody has some other ideas. I've got 54k miles from last time they had this offer that I haven't spent yet.

40k in economy, 70 business, 125 First. It's a separate category on the chart.

Funny... I applied though a link on Boarding Area last week and was denied because the offer was no longer valid (no credit pull either)...

I had this card a few years ago. When I finally had the miles to redeem for two economy tickets between Spain and Germany, I paid over $400 in fees/taxes for my 'free' tickets. Miles & More is about the worst FF program that I know of. I love the airline, but I am done with their program.
