1. Are these cards churnable?
Yes, they are. BUT you’ll have to wait anywhere from 12 to 26 months before applying again. Approvals have happened at the 13 month mark and denials at 24. There is no set 18 month rule, but always err on the side of caution when churning.
Also- it’s from DATE OF APPROVAL and not from date of cancellation.
2.What are the most current rules in applying for these cards? #ONLY ONE APPLICATION in a day (make that 30 hours to be safe) #No more than 2 apps in 65 (approximately) days.
Example:
Day 1 45-50K personal platinum
Day 2 or later 25-30K personal gold
65+ days later 50K business
While the day limits are a little flexible by a few days either way and YMMV, the rules themselves are not flexible.
3. How long does it take for the Admiral passes to arrive?
For the better part, it takes about 3 months. This is not a set number, and some have received theirs sooner. It's been deduced that the passes are handled by a 3rd party that mails them in batches. Please don’t call Citi for the passes, because you’ll mostly find a CSR who doesn't know better and will give you wrong information.
4. Can I apply for a business card if I don’t have a business?
Technically, you can. But you may be asked for a 4506-T form, or to provide proof of business or/and a copy of a bill with your business name on it.
5. How do I get the statement credit?
First, you have to make sure if the offer you signed up for gave you A $150 credit or UPTO A $150 statement credit. For the 1st, any AA coded purchase ($50 AA GC seems to be the simplest option here) will/should trigger it. For the 2nd, you’ll have to spend $150 to get the $150 credit.
For more information on what will work and what won’t, please see here (thanks sdsearch) and here (thanks dogbyte)
6. Does the $150 account credit (for AA purchases using the VISA or AMEX) count against the spending required to receive the initial mileage bonus?
No. It does not. (Put differently: any account credit you receive has no impact on your spending total for purposes of earning the "X thousand miles for $Y spent in the first Z months" bonus.)
7. Can I buy Visa gift cards to meet my minimum spend?
There’s a very good chance that it’ll be coded as a cash advance.
It’s recommended to call citi and have them set your Cash Advance limit to zero. (thanks KennyBSAT)
8. Do I get 10% back when redeeming miles per credit card?
No. Unfortunately, it's 10% per AA frequent flier account.
So, from what I can gather, it looks like the greatest chance of success now is to apply from #1 and #4, getting a different card type (Visa/Amex) . Then don't call if pending. Am I missing something?
Applied for both cards using option 1 and under review for both of them! 765 credit score, however i did apply for 2 chase cards 2 weeks ago. haven't applied for a citi card in about 18 months. tried the two browser trick.
I believe I got pending on both because of an address discrepency. They didn't allow me to do 1509-1 which is my actual address that i applied for a citi card 1.5 years ago.. I had to do 15091 which resulted in a call. She didnt say if id be approved or not but said she'll update the application. Hopefully there stupid application didnt screw me over.
That's the way it was up until recently. Now from reading the last couple days posts it looks like the 2 personal AA cards does not work for getting approved for two unless you get instant approval for both. But might as well give it a try since it doesn't really hurt you to try.
Thanks ddallas!
How do you think about one personal AA + one hilton card? I wonder the two application would be combined into one inquiry as well.

OP should add DO NOT CALL in post #1..

So can I apply for the personal cards since it has been 24 months since my personal card approval day. If so, I will try for both like I did last time.
When I called for approval two weeks ago, I spoke to a guy from North Dakota. Very nice guy. You can prob get a hold of him if u call around 8pm. It took him 5 minutes to look up info. Use number in my prior post
I can assure you if you call the number on the Step 5 Summary, or if you are lucky enough to get an email from Citi telling your App ID and a number to call - that number leads to CREDIT SPECIALIST who has the power to approve you if all it takes is to verify minor data, and/or reallocation of credit lines.
Well, that implies that chat vs call may be different. I was invited into a chat at Step 5 (of my recent app for the targeted "linked" AA Amex), and the person on the chat said they were able to move credit around to approve my new card, but that they couldn't cancel the card they were moving credit out of, that I would have to contact the credit department for that. Which implied I wasn't talking to the credit department???
Or are the there different divisions of the credit department, one "front line" who can only move stuff around (but not do other stuff), following scripts on the screen, and then a totally different division which does the "behind the scenes" stuff (not quite as scripted)?

I would say same department, different authority and abilities (divisions).
I would think a cancellation would go to the retention department (probably also located within the credit department).
10 days ago I applied via the two links on post 4030, two browsers. Got immediate approval for both. Later on when got a smail-mail notification I confirmed the bonuses with a rep.
Today my wife applied for the Amex link in post 4030, and the Visa link #1 .
Amex got immediate approval; Visa got " We have received your application and further processing is required at this time. We will contact you within a week via email regarding our decision".
I am new to this forum. Could you give me some pointers about the methods above? (... search brings up thousands of posts, and I am not sure in which threads to look for the info).

Same thing just happened to me an hour ago. I'm wondering if I should call or sit tight too.

Yeah, just sit tight. Any changes that took place happened in the last couple days so any results before that are sort of irrelevant now. New territory. The last couple days is when posters began reporting they were being told by CSRs that they were denied for the second application due to getting approved for the first one. So based on the last two days call results it doesn't look like calling in will do you any good. Now yesterday and today we have people taking the strategy of not calling in and we will see the results of that approach in a week or so when either cards show up in the mail or they get a denial letter stating something like only one card per card family. Time will tell if not calling in is any more successful than calling in. Probably depends on how fast Citi gets their system switched over to what the CSRs are being trained on. Not much to do now but wait and see how it plays out.
