  1. What are the most current working links?
  2. Is this card churnable?
  3. How frequently can I apply for these cards?
  4. Do I have to close my previous card before reapplying?
  5. I got the 60K card and bonus but when I finished the spend on my second 60K card I did not get the bonus. What happened?

[1] What are the most current working links?

There is a standard offer for 50K points after $1K spend in 4 months. (No landing page is available for this offer; lnik taken from wiki for http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/citi-...amex-citi.html.)

There are no known 60K offers available. The most recent one expired in late September 2014.

[2] Is this card churnable?
In the past, this card has been easily churnable. However, in December 2014 Citi began inserting language into some applications and landing pages disqualifying current Hilton Visa cardholders & requiring an 18-month wait from the date of the previous card's cancellation. The application link listed above does not include this restriction, and FTers have confirmed that they have been approved through this application despite being current or recent holders of another Citi Hilton card.

[3] How frequently can I apply for these cards?
You can only apply for ONE Citi card in a week or TWO in two months (60 days). To be safe, it is frequently suggested to wait 8+ days between ANY two Citi applications and 65+ days until your third Citi application of ANY kind. These are rolling dates, so you have to wait at least 60 days (65+) from your second application to your 4th applications, and so forth.

If math is not your strong suit, you can use: http://www.timeanddate.com/date/duration.html.

Example:
Day 0 - Citi HHonors Card #1
Day 8 - Citi AA Personal Card
Day 65 - Citi AA Business Card
Day 73 - Citi HHonors Card #2
Day 130 - Citi TY Card

[4] Do I have to close my previous card before reapplying?
Not if you use the application link above. As stated above, in December 2014 Citi began introducing new application pages requiring an 18-month wait since cancellation of the prior card.

Note that when you close an account, Citi may not "free up" the credit limit from that card for as long as 6 months. So if you're going to apply within 6 months, it's better to not cancel beforehand.

[5] I got the 60K card and bonus but when I finished the spend on my second 60K card I did not get the bonus. What happened?
There appears to be a problem with Citi crediting you with both bonuses but Hilton not crediting the second bonus because their system sees it as a duplicate.

You need to open up a case, preferably with Hilton, and explain that you have two separate cards (feel free to explain one is for business and one for personal if they ask why you have multiple cards and you feel like explaining). You also need to diligently check back with them and make sure that they do not close the case as you already got the bonus.

This is very much a YMMV situation. Depending on who you talk to and where, this can be a relatively short process or a particularly unpleasant and long one. Best advice: Be nice to the CSRs and get them on your side or HUACA until you find someone useful.

For some people it may be worth getting the 50K card instead, possibly trying to "bump the bonus" to 60K and getting it as a 10K adjustment instead.

Applied 65+ days ago and was approved for 2 cards. Just applied again for two and was approved for only one. Was told that with the "special offer" cards I could only be approved for one. Explained that I need more an one for business reasons but was shot down. One card should arrive in a week.

I'm thinking I should put in one application later. Any thoughts, should I wait 65+ days?

you now have two apps with citi, they will most likely shut down any additional applications in the next 65 days. i would wait 65 and reapply

Approved on 1 of 2 but...

So I finally got approved for 1 of my double apps on 10/6 after doing the 2 browser trick on 9/27.

I got a call on 10/8 from Citi which I wasn't able to answer so I called back the status line to check what's happening. They said the reviewer wanted to confirm I had applied for 2 cards to which I explained why I needed the 2 (sep bus. and personal expenses). So I've been calling in the last 2 days but to no avail. I finally decided to call the credit department and they said a form was mailed out to me which I have to fill out and send back. I told him that I didn't need any extra CL and would be more than happy to split my new line with the the pending app. He said it was too late and that there's nothing he could do on his end and I'd have to wait to see what the form says and reply to it. Has anyone else encountered what this mystery form is after being approved for a card a few days earlier?

If the links still work then the offer is still good.

Are you sure the upgrade offer is for the Citi Visa? That sounds like Amex offer to upgrade to a Surpass.

The Amex and Citi cards are completely independent of each other (issued by different banks). (And both have excisted for many years.) You can have both. But only the Citi cards are churnable (ie, you can apply for them repeatedly).

This thread is about the Citi cards, not the Amex cards. The thread for the Amex cards is here:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/miles...0-31-12-a.html

although those offers may not work if you already have an HHonors Amex card.

I read somewhere that you could churn Amex cards after 2 years. Is that false?

You can get bonuses on AmEx cards after the previous card of that type has been closed for at least a year. The T&C will tell you which cards will disqualify you.

In case of AMEX Hilton card. There are a number of people reporting being able to downgrade from Surpass and then receive an upgrade offer of 50,000 HH points next year with a minimum spend. This maybe a good idea if you want to lower number of inquiries, preserve having Hilton AMEX as it gives you power to do AXON6 and AXON7 awards.

Cheers,

PedroNY

What do you mean not receiving? Denied by the CSR? If yes, try a different time and call again. Say you want to separate out your personal and work related expenses.

Just a few low level but possibly helpful datapoints related to this and other citi cards...

My wife received the annual fee for her Citi AA Visa and we decided to cancel it. Actually have not been using the card for some time. As well, she applied for the Citi Business Visa online today (40k AA offer with $3k spend) and it's pending. At the same time she wanted to re evaluate her having both last year's citi gold Visa with Hilton (which had a $1,500 spend and earned her 50k HH) and a newer Citi Visa from HH which has a picture of cities on it in a sepia tone and is a Signature Visa (which I believe had a $1k spend) and earned her 50k HH also. She had applied for both at different times and got both. Neither has annual fees but both have $5k CR limits and so she wanted to get rid of at least one to have less avail credit with Citi used up on the field.

When we called in to Citi they put us through to an acct specialist who ultimately convinced us to stay with the Citi AA visa and pay its $95 ann fee BUT that we could make 5 regular purchases (of anything at any ammt) in 3 months (almost too easy to even mention) and they would provide a statement credit of $95. Ok no-brainer, we're in for another year on that one!...

For the HH Visa gold, they offered that we get 750 extra HH points per month from using this Citi HH card if we spend that much each month or in any given month. She declined and we closed it. They offered to move the credit limit into the other HH Visa but we said no to this as well.

We also confirmed with both Citi and Hilton that my wife is still Diamond thru til Mar 2014 and that of course to retain it, one needs to spend $40k on the card. If one spends $20k, one has Gold. Obviously we know the HH Amex earned 6x points on things, whereas these Visas only give you 3x.

It is not certain, therefore, if we should ever even bother to think to get the newer HH Visa that people talked about that gives you Gold as long as you have the card. I mean, we wouldn't do that now anyway cuz she's Diamond, but if this were 2014 we could consider it. Then again we will just wait and see what changes may come. I'm not status on HH but I wasnt planning on getting a HH card right now as I am concentrating on other things.

Also we are not sure if we will bother trying to churn these Visas from Citi... I personally had less than perfect luck with my history of Citi churning and am pretty much stuck to keeping the one AA card I have now. They dont really wanna give me another for a while. I wish to allow my wife to remain free of this restriction.
