Note: All links expired.

We will leave this thread open for questions from existing cardholders who applied using offers with the perpetual annual 10k bonus. Otherwise, please post on the ongoing thread on standard offers:

Current Offers: USAirways cards with no annual mileage bonus

Current Links:

30k + 10k anniversary + no annual fee for the first year (now says "Offer expired"); terms and conditions include offer specifics
[NOTE: Barclays is erratically enforcing the restriction "for Preferred members only," especially for those who leave off a membership number on the application. See recent experiences reported in the thread.]

There is a separate thread for a 40k+10k offer with $89 annual fee, no anniversary bonus: USAirways CC special Offer 40K + 10K BT Bonus; AF not waived

Expired Links:
30k at signup, 10k anniversary bonus, 10k with balance transfer, no fee first year - Landing Page (Ended 4/30/14)
Older 35K Link (older link not working)
Newer 35K Link (click on terms and conditions to see 35K bonus after first purchase, first year fee waived, and 10K anniversary bonus)

1) I applied for this card but got the message
We apologize for the inconvenience, but our website is experiencing technical issues.
Please contact us at 1-866-419-6437 or try again later.
What does this mean? What should I do?

Check your application status by visiting http://www.myapplicationstatus.com/

At Barclays, if you already have an online account, the card can also show up there before you get a notification from them. Obviously, that won't work if you don't yet have an online Barclays account from another card. But if it's not your first US card, you presumably do have an online account already.

2) What's the reconsideration line number?

866-408-4064. Only open M>F, 8am>5pm, Eastern.

3) How long after my first purchase does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?

Miles for the first-purchase bonus post with the statement showing the initial purchase.

4) For those people who got the targeted offer, how long after spending $750 in each of the 3 months does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?

Miles posts two months after the end of the promotion period. For example, if your promo was to spend in June, July and August, the 15k bonus would post with October statement.

5) How can I get the anniversary 10K bonus points without paying the annual fee?

The annual bonus posts on the statement date of the month of anniversary. No need to "kick out" a statement. But if you are worried, you can put a few bucks on the card during that cycle thus generate a statement but it is NOT necessary.

AF is billed the last business day of the month of the anniversary (much better than Chase practice which is on the 1st day of the month). You have 60 days to cancel the card for the AF to be reversed. You also can use SM to cancel card and no need to call.

Note: I called to cancel the card (June, 2014), told them it was because the AF was too high, and they waived it. Still got the 10,000 points and the Companion Certs!!

What can it be that they want?
I had the exact message earlier this week. It was my first ever credit card application with barclays and when I contacted them they indicated my SSN was issued 20 years after my DOB and that they would need additional documentation like a copy of passport or voter id card or green card etc. Pretty strange for a CC company to do such pseudo immigration check. I have not sent anything to them yet contemplating if I really want that card bad enough to send those docs to them or not. Any ideas out there?

I had applied to Barclays 4-5 times and I have to send my immigration documents every time. It is just their way of doing things and I have accepted it. Hey can't beat free (almost) tens of thousands of miles.

Yeah, I'd be a little uncomfortable sending in passport information. A voter ID card seems kind of flimsy, on the other hand. I"d probably be ok sending that in. Did you send in a copy of a driver's license?

Applied over the weekend and got the same message. If they ask for proof of US citizenship I'm gonna be mad.

They did pull Transunion for once. So that's good. First time in 9 apps.

I'm not a citizen or have a green card. I have a work visa. Will I be out of luck?

I believe you are out of luck. Barclays does need a person to be a Green card holder or citizen for approval. You can still try if you don't mind an inquiry especially since they seem to be hitting Transunion for the most part.

Probably. They require proof of citizenship or green card. But you might get lucky. They don't force this all the time.

Hey all!

For those who have had the bonus points post, how long did it take? Was it after the first billing cycle, or within a few days of your first purchase? It's been a week since my first purchase and no bonus points as of yet, we shall see.

Best,

fw

They always post after your first statement including the spend closes.

Regarding whether this card is indeed churnable:

I jumped on the recent offer: 40k + up to 10k for BT. The card I received in the mail was simply "US Airways Dividend Miles Mastercard." No mention of "Platinum" or "World Premier" or anything like that. I've never had a US card before. Are other folks getting this same card, or is Barclays still issuing "Platinum" and "World Premier" cards as well?

Of the folks who have received a second US Air card under the recent offer, did you receive a "different" card than you did the first time around? In other words, were you only able to churn the card because you had a "World Premier" or "Platinum" card the first time around, but were issued a different "product" this second time around?

I know there are rare instances of people holding a "Platinum" and "World Premier" simultaneously after calling to question the 10k vs. 35k bonus, but I'm curious how often (if ever) people have been issued the exact same card twice.

Personally, I'd go for the Sapphire because it's such a good card for everyday spend. If you can manage the spending requirements, you might as well simultaneously add the AA cards, though I wouldn't be surprised if a better offer comes along fairly soon (75k and 100k bonuses existed this time last year).

I sort of view the US Air card as having no real consequences (comparatively -- of course). Hard pull goes on Transunion, which the large credit card issuers rarely see (I'd double-check and see if indeed it was your Freedom card that pulled Transunion...but even if it was, 2 pulls ain't nothing on Transunion). No spending requirements. So you might as well get it. Plus, the sooner you get the card, the sooner your anniversary benefits will come.

I think if I were in your shoes, I'd pull the trigger on Sapphire and US Air now. I'd be patient with AA and the rest.
