We will leave this thread open for questions from existing cardholders who applied using offers with the perpetual annual 10k bonus. Otherwise, please post on the ongoing thread on standard offers:
Current Offers: USAirways cards with no annual mileage bonus

Current Links:
30k + 10k anniversary + no annual fee for the first year (now says "Offer expired"); terms and conditions include offer specifics
[NOTE: Barclays is erratically enforcing the restriction "for Preferred members only," especially for those who leave off a membership number on the application. See recent experiences reported in the thread.]

There is a separate thread for a 40k+10k offer with $89 annual fee, no anniversary bonus: USAirways CC special Offer 40K + 10K BT Bonus; AF not waived

Expired Links:
30k at signup, 10k anniversary bonus, 10k with balance transfer, no fee first year - Landing Page (Ended 4/30/14)
Older 35K Link (older link not working)
Newer 35K Link (click on terms and conditions to see 35K bonus after first purchase, first year fee waived, and 10K anniversary bonus)

1) I applied for this card but got the message
We apologize for the inconvenience, but our website is experiencing technical issues.
Please contact us at 1-866-419-6437 or try again later.
What does this mean? What should I do?

Check your application status by visiting http://www.myapplicationstatus.com/

At Barclays, if you already have an online account, the card can also show up there before you get a notification from them. Obviously, that won't work if you don't yet have an online Barclays account from another card. But if it's not your first US card, you presumably do have an online account already.

2) What's the reconsideration line number?

866-408-4064. Only open M>F, 8am>5pm, Eastern.

3) How long after my first purchase does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?

Miles for the first-purchase bonus post with the statement showing the initial purchase.

4) For those people who got the targeted offer, how long after spending $750 in each of the 3 months does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?

Miles posts two months after the end of the promotion period. For example, if your promo was to spend in June, July and August, the 15k bonus would post with October statement.

5) How can I get the anniversary 10K bonus points without paying the annual fee?

The annual bonus posts on the statement date of the month of anniversary. No need to "kick out" a statement. But if you are worried, you can put a few bucks on the card during that cycle thus generate a statement but it is NOT necessary.

AF is billed the last business day of the month of the anniversary (much better than Chase practice which is on the 1st day of the month). You have 60 days to cancel the card for the AF to be reversed. You also can use SM to cancel card and no need to call.

Note: I called to cancel the card (June, 2014), told them it was because the AF was too high, and they waived it. Still got the 10,000 points and the Companion Certs!!

Patiently waiting to reapply, but applied for my first in February.

Depends on how far you want to look back in this thread. Several people were getting approved for second cards 4 or 5 months after the first app. But that was last year. I just canceled my 2nd US Air card last month. I am planning on applying on Monday for another one. We'll see what happens.

Have you been canceling before the AF hits?

I've seen the stats from a year back..more curious about this year.

Or they could convert it to an Arrival card or other Barclay's card, right?

What happens to all of the us airway miles? Are they guaranteed to convert to American or could we just lose them?

I added this card via the USAirways $50 off credit, but now realize that this one has an $89 annual fee. What do you think the chances are of getting them to switch my offer if I call customer support?

Approaching limit zero. Barclays isn't Chase, or even close.

I have a couple of questions about this card for those in the know.

Applied today, got instant approval with a $10K limit. I plan to cancel for sure before year 2 kicks in and the fee hits. I was already a Dividend Miles member. My question is, if I cancel the card before I use the miles, with the miles disappear? I was hoping to bank the miles for later on.

My other question is, even though I am a Dividend Miles member, I had some miles that expired a few years back (it wasn't a ton, but it was like 5,000 miles). I've read that you can request those miles back and it's usually granted. Anyone had any experiences with this or know how to go about that request?

Once the miles post to your DM account, they will remain yours indefinitely provided your DM account remains active. Keep in mind that depending on statement closing dates it may take more than one month for the miles to post.

If it hasnt been more than 36 months you can pay a reinstatement fee to get your old miles back. Per the current chart it looks like less than 5k miles is $10 and 5-20k is $50. Anything further back than 36months have been purged permanently.

EDIT: there is also this quote on the link I provided "You may also reactivate your account with a US Airways credit card. This option is available only to applicants who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States. To reinstate miles as part of this offer, you must apply, be approved and make at least one qualifying purchase." So I read that to mean that if you get the USMC they will waive the reactivation fee. Anyone else read it that way?

Thanks a million! So if I cancel the card before the annual fee hits (in close to 12 months), but I haven't used the miles yet, the miles are still mine to keep even if I haven't used them yet as long as the DM account is still active? Is this typically true of most cards in general or does it vary? Thanks again!

It varies between cards.... general rule of thumb is that if you are earning points/miles with a co-branded card (ie Citi HHonors, Barclays US Airways MC, Chase Hyatt) the points/miles automatically get transferred to their respected programs and they are yours to keep even if you cancel the credit card as long as your program acct remains active.

If you are using a card with a proprietary points system (ie Chase Ultimate Rewards, Citi Thank You Points), you will need to use or transfer your points before cancelling the card...otherwise *poof* they're gone!

There are lots of threads on here about transferring points to other programs once you get to that point.

PS - Welcome to FT!

At the beginning of May, both my wife and I had 10K anniv miles post to our accounts. When I called to cancel my card, I was told the AF would hit my account on June 1. Successfully cancelled both cards, kept the 10K, paid nothing for them.

I cancelled my card back in Feb after the 10k anniversary miles posted but before I had to pay the annual fee. I applied for the 35k link yesterday and was instantly approved. I probably didn't need to wait that long between canceling and reapplying, but I wanted to fit this into my AOR cycle.

Due to no-history with Barclays, I was approved I guess for a lower version of the card. It is neither called Premier nor World.

Have waited for now 4 months and no joy for the 15000 mile offer.

Anyone with the lower version got the spending bonus?
