1) I applied for this card but got the message
Check your application status by visiting http://www.myapplicationstatus.com/
At Barclays, if you already have an online account, the card can also show up there before you get a notification from them. Obviously, that won't work if you don't yet have an online Barclays account from another card. But if it's not your first US card, you presumably do have an online account already.
2) What's the reconsideration line number?
866-408-4064. Only open M>F, 8am>5pm, Eastern.
3) How long after my first purchase does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?
Miles for the first-purchase bonus post with the statement showing the initial purchase.
4) For those people who got the targeted offer, how long after spending $750 in each of the 3 months does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?
Miles posts two months after the end of the promotion period. For example, if your promo was to spend in June, July and August, the 15k bonus would post with October statement.
5) How can I get the anniversary 10K bonus points without paying the annual fee?
The annual bonus posts on the statement date of the month of anniversary. No need to "kick out" a statement. But if you are worried, you can put a few bucks on the card during that cycle thus generate a statement but it is NOT necessary.
AF is billed the last business day of the month of the anniversary (much better than Chase practice which is on the 1st day of the month). You have 60 days to cancel the card for the AF to be reversed. You also can use SM to cancel card and no need to call.
Note: I called to cancel the card (June, 2014), told them it was because the AF was too high, and they waived it. Still got the 10,000 points and the Companion Certs!!

When did you apply for these cards? Recently people seem to have been getting denied for the second one if it was after 3 months, but others have reported getting approvals after 4 months between applications. Thanks!

When did your statement close?
When did you meet the spend?
When does your next statement close?
Did you have an AF that needed to get paid?

US Air vs OTHER Barclays cards?
So it seems that the current consensus (or as close to a consensus as there is) suggests that the probable safe minimum interval may be 4 months between applications for a second Barclays US Airways MC. Many people report 6 months between apps for this same card results in approvals, so it's probably somewhere between 4-6 months to be safe. That's the "clock" you have to keep track of for this card.
What I'm wondering about is whether Barclays uses the same "clock" for all applications for any of their cards, or if there are separate clocks/required intervals for their other products.
With all the recent interest in their other cards (lots of noise lately about their "Arrival" world MC, and there are others, too - NFL, Frontier, probably a few others), I bet others here have pondered this and maybe tested them? Managing the Barclays clocks may become more complicated - or maybe it's not, if they look at the interval between applications for ANY of their cards, regardless of the "product", personal or business, etc. On the other hand, if each product is viewed separately - and has its own clock - and if personal and business versions are viewed separately (like some other card issuers), it would be nice to not have to wait 4-6 months for each of them.
Anybody know to what extent - if any - they keep separate clocks for separate products? Or is every flavor of any Barclay credit card essentially in the same bucket/on the same clock?
Anybody know? Data points to share? Thanks.

We show that you will receive 35,000 miles for the first use after the annual fee has been paid. We do show that you have recently paid the account including the annual fee; however you will need to use the card again to trigger the first use miles bonus.
Therefore, in your case, you will need to make another transaction (assuming you haven't made one since paying the annual fee on March 10th) before they will post the bonus. The bonus will then post whenever your next statement closes (May 5th?).

I bought a pack of gum, then paid the AF, and I have 40k miles sitting in my US Air account.

Different offers have different conditions. This is what they told me. Just sharing it so that the poster can determine if it applies to his situation as well.

Well here is a thought... my mother inlaw had the Chase Continental card, and when they merged with United, Chase issued here a new card with the United logo on it... then later when she applied for that fantastic 50K United deal, she was rejected for already having the card prior..... and this is the concern of mine here... that if our USAirMC cards arent cancelled and/or purged from the system prior to the merger, then they may automatically issue new cards with the American logo, and then we may not be eligible for that new American marketed cards that will follow. So, in light of this, I wonder what the best moves are right now.

so you would have to paid the AF to get the bonus?
I see in the lastest 35k sign up T&C:
"Bonus Dividend Miles: Thirty five thousand (35,000) bonus miles will be awarded in the first billing cycle in which you have made a purchase or balance transfer (that is not later returned or rescinded). There is a fee for Balance Transfers."
and what is this "Companion Certificate: For the $89 Annual Fee MasterCard,
Companion Certificate: For the $89 Annual Fee MasterCard, the Primary Cardmember is eligible to receive one companion certificate valid for two $99 companion tickets each year. The Companion Certificate is valid for travel within 12 months and tickets must be purchased within 9 months from the issue date. The companion certificate is valid for round-trip coach class travel within and between the contiguous U.S. and Canada when the Primary Cardmember purchases a qualifying ticket (minimum fare purchase of $250 required). Additional taxes, fees and charges including (PFCs), Federal Excise Taxes, Canadian VAT/GST and customs/immigration charges as well as the September 11 Security Fee apply to all tickets purchased and are not included in the base fare. Other companion certificates restrictions apply including advance purchase requirements and black-out dates and will be provided on the actual certificate."

personally I'm holding onto my USAir card post merger even if it gets rebranded AA a la Continental/United. My CO card was rebranded United after the merger but I have a secure message from Chase saying I am still eligible for the United card 1st time bonus. I would imagine this should be the same situation with the USAir card. To the original poster, I would have your MIL call back because she should still be able to get the United card and it's 50k bonus - check out the details in the old CO card flyertalk thread

However, there are many reports of people being denied because Barclay's does not want to give them any more credit even when they only have one or two cards and are applying for a different product. While it seems Barclay's is tighter about giving out credit than Chase or Citi, I suspect a recent approval for a US Air card would not cause automatic denial for a different product (Arrival, NFL, etc).
