I don't think there is any doubt about what to expect to earn EQM-wise from this offer. The offer says this:
Quote:
Double Elite Qualifying Miles in this offer is defined as two times the actual base flight miles posted to your account for qualifying flights taken during the promotional period.
Base flight miles are not EQM. Since I bought my ticket on the CO web site I expect to earn 200% EQM.
The interesting question is what you should expect to earn if you do not purchase your low fare class ticket directly from CO. Based on the language of the offer, I would expect to earn 200% for such a ticket, and NT the standard 50% plus 100% for the offer.

I am surprised CO is doing this - thought their policy was to ignore competitor promotions that expand the # of plats.
Nonetheless, I like it for now. Being DTW based, one of my runs is DTW-PDX, which would net 11,684 EQMs return w/ DEQMs. This gets plat for under $1,700 based on current fares.

I'm sure this is related to the downturn in travel these days, but (OTOH) I can't help woundering if there is some benefit to CO to pump up the elite ranks prior to joining *A.

I do wonder what this will do to the ranks of Plat. I've always stayed tried and true to CO with the exception of some Asian flights (am lowly silver on CX/Marco Polo which gives me Ruby OW). Perhaps with all the double EQMs, I need to go fly on AA to get ExP so my OW status gets bumped up. Maybe with the economy, Plat on CO isn't changing that much; but I have my doubts.
