I agree, it will be nice to get the additional 25% back due to the card, but I believe that platinum elites should receive higher mileage bonuses than gold.

Has anyone seen any better offers for the presidential plus card - other than the $75 off of the 1st year's annual fees?

Thanks in advance

For the $100 can my lifetime spouse PC member get a card or is that an additional $100? Getting two more bills is such an annoyance.

This change does come at a convenient time. It starts the same day that Citi is grossly devaluing its ThankYou Points program.

For the LT PC members out there this increases the benefits to getting the card. Now for a $100 you get:

- Hyatt Gold
- Avis Presidential (which includes Avis First Benefits I believe)
- $3 discount on wine (just drink 33 glasses of premium wines a year and
it pays for the card)
- 25% Bonus on miles earned on Continental
- Free first and second bag for user (Elites don't benefit much but those
traveling with them do or non-elites too)
- Miles for purchases as well
- Elite Access (if you dont have it)

This in my opinion makes the card beneficial to LT PC members.

Here is my question:

I am Gold Elite with a World Card and my spouse is a "nobody" with the Presidential Plus card.

What can I do to maximize the offers available?

I thought it was Hyatt Plat. Hyatt Gold is the base level. Although Hyatt Plat does not offer lounge access - you need to be Diamond - so not much of a benefit to be Hyatt Plat.

Does Avis President get the free weekends every 4th 2 day rental like AvisFirst?

AvisFirst is only an one class upgrade, is Avis President - a two class upgrade?

Also - does the CO Pres Plus card get double miles for charges on Continental and other partners - like Bestbuy, Macy's, AVIS, CVS, etc - like the World card?

AvisFirst is an earned level, based on 12 rentals per year. You get (if available, a one class upgrade) and now after every four 2-days or more rentals, you get a free two day weekend rental.

Used to be three 2-day rentals. Plus if you earn FF points on the rental, those rentals do not count in toward the four needed for a free weekend.

What does Avis President offer?

Yeah, I have it. But I've never seen an upgrade. Free weekend. Or anything other than really bad marketing emails from the program.

Avis President apparently earns you a 2 class upgrade (and, perhaps your name in the BK filing they're about to make).

You are correct on the Hyatt. It is Plat.

Avis First Presidential offers the two car class upgrade and the ability to get a car without a reservation from the documentation. I have not tried that yet.

I do know that you get the double miles for non travel related purchases. You do get 1 mile per $1 though.

You get an email for your free 2 day weekends. But now they are being filtered with Spam filters. You need to log into the AvisFirst website and you can see when you are issued free 2-day weekends. You then need to call to get the TUDAxxxx number. I used to get the emails, but my office puts them in the spam filter bucket.

On the CO Pres Plus card - looks like you get double miles for hotel and car rental expenses (like the Chase Business card) but not double miles at partners like Macy's, BestBuy, etc.

Interesting. I have Avis stuff sent to my gmail, which lets through the marketing drivel.

I wonder if my corporate AWD excludes me from free weekend rentals. I wouldn't put it past our purchasing dept.

Oh well. Sorry to get us off topic. ... back to your regularly scheduled CO show.

My corporate AWD does not allow the FF miles to post. But it does allow the 2 free weekend days, so no impact to me with the new either FF miles or 2 day credits policy.

Unless you've seen something I haven't, the $75 is only available of this is your first Continental Airlines affiliated card from Chase. So if, like me, you have the World, you get nothing for the upgrade. But, I plan on calling to see if I can finagle something.

Hi,

This is a good question. March 12 I fly to the UK and I purchased my flight with my AMX PLAT card. I have a sneaking suspicion that I would have had to purchase this ticket with my Pres Plus card to qualify for the added mileage bonus. Hopefully I'll be wrong!

Quick Question Scott

I wouldn't count on it, cova.

You'll get a full Continental Presidents Club membership, and a complete set of membership credentials. So yes, Presidential Plus cardmembers get the exact same lounge access as Presidents Club members. The Presidential Plus card is a little unique in this respect.
Happy New Year Scott,

I have booked travel for this coming March. I qualified for Silver Elite again for 2009. I have the Presidential Plus card from Chase. How will they know to credit my OP account with the extra mileage? At boarding time would I present the Pres Plus card???

Thanks.
Eric
