Not to sound churlish on this "improvement", but it does not seem to address the original philosophical disconnect that concerned many of us ie. why are Plats rewarded at same level as Gold?
I'd value the 25% on 75K miles at $225, making this card $150 net for a continuing Plat, less if one flies more. Not bad for a PC membership.
I have one of the original "Speedy Turtle" (how's that for an obscure reference to a funny chapter here?) Continental Chase Mastercards. It supposedly comes with two PC passes per year, but they haven't sent me any since the first year.
Any chance I can upgrade this existing card to a Presidential Plus card, or do I have to cancel and start over?
How does this work for couples? I'm a Plat and so is Mrs SuperG. We would both want to receive the 25% bonus Miles. As far as the PC is concerned, the ideal would be a membership and a spouse membership.
It doesn't make sense for each of us to have a separate Chase Presidential Account, but to have 2 cards on one account.
Programs: CO Silver Leisure Elite, I don't remember the last time I flew *A or OW, Hyatt Plat/Avis PC (PPC)

Converting member to +spouse is an additional $150.
Converting member to +souse is an additional $150.
But can you then link spouse's second card to her OP account for bonus milage and keep your OP own account for your flgiht milage bonus? (at least I think that's what he's asking .......it's what I'm asking)

CO still rewards Plats where it counts most - in the free upgrade process. When I look at the difference between S/G/P elite levels, the primary goal for attaining Gold is the 100% mileage bonus (doubles Silver) and the primary goal for attaining Platinum is upgrade priority (far out-trumping bonus miles, which is - soon to be "was" - only a 25% boost over Gold).

Smart money would be on enabling that, but the problem is that transactions on either card should all link back to one primary account, and the OP# on that account would get the credit.
Perhaps CO could waive transfer fees between user pre-selected OP accounts for PP holders? They would still rev on other transfers by the PP but they could encourage more CO couples to get the card.

You'll get a full Continental Presidents Club membership, and a complete set of membership credentials. So yes, Presidential Plus cardmembers get the exact same lounge access as Presidents Club members. The Presidential Plus card is a little unique in this respect.
So it sounds like it would not be a problem for me (LT PC member) to upgrade from the World card and add Mrs. texd (not a PC member) as my second card on the account. She wouldn't get a membership or anything (almost all of her flying is either with me or to airports without clubs anyway), but she would get the benefit of premium wine discounts when we're in the club (that extra $15 annual fee will pay for itself quick).
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong... or slap me if I'm not making any sense.
BTW, since I requalify on segments, the 25% is going to net me <5,000 RDM/year, and the EQM don't do much for me. But 5 premium wines and the upgrade from World pays for itself. Plus the Hyatt and Avis status is nice.

Huh. I was under the impression it was a limited membership (PC Only, BP required for entry). In this case, what benefit is there to the annual PC membership over this? In my case, it would be 400 vs. 375.
Other than not having to deal with Chase, of course.
Correct, no BP required. In fact CO will print you a security pass for you to go airside w/out a BP. I did this on three or four occassions in the past few years to meet clients on a layover in EWR. Haven't tried it since summer though, I'm assuming it still works.
You raise a very good question though, what is the advantage of a PC m'ship over the Pres. Plus card. Perhaps Pres. Plus card is exclusive -- not just anyone can sign up.
1stly, I now wonder if this was COs intent all along when they reduced the Bonus Miles. as i dont think they would have left it at the old % and then on top of that give an extra 25%
that said, it still doesnt pay for me, since by 3/1 I should have appx 40k in EQMs that means all Id lose is 8750 bonus miles, thats if I stop at 75k.

I do not believe this was CO's intent. They aligned their bonus miles to UA's. Obviously a lot of objection here to the reduction, and CO likely talked with Chase and Chase viewed it as a way to get more Pres Plus card members - by paying a small fee for the extra miles earned.
Once Chase gave us double miles for a year (when I first got my Chase card). 25% is a lot less. Restores the extra 25% bonus for those of us that want it, likely adds more customers for Chase Pres Plus card, and makes all a little happier. Works for CO, Chase, and us - the flyers.
