To each his own. My AMEX Plat pays for itself many times over each year.

I utilize the premium wine discount quite a lot. Also the bankable EQMs may be quite useful in the future., and the 25% bonus miles make this a no-brainer

*nods* Same with my PPMC.

Pres Club membership( me as gold) >$300 value

25% milage bonus approx 15,000 miles this year .......

125,000 base miles for purchases of spending on Casrd.........

another approx 20,000 miles bonus for double CO ticket purchases

another 150k for OnePass shopping bonus (this year at least ---probably atypical and won't reproduce yearly but still nice)

and 10,000 flex EQMs

I think it is well worth it.

Also, you get a $75 credit towards the first year's fee, as soon as your account is set up.

Presidential Plus Card Changing???

I noticed an advertisement in the CO flight mag this week for the Presidential Card by Chase (which I have) ... and noticed that the benefits have changed.

It appears that they have added the "BusinessFirst 2 for 1" benefit ... or at least, I missed that when I obtained my card.

But more importantly, there is *NO* mention of the FLEX EQM miles for spending levels (ie: 2000 flex EQM for every $x,000 in spending).

Currently, I found info here:
http://www.continental.com/web/en-US...s/default.aspx

The firstusa site has the "old" information that I was more familiar with ...
http://www.firstusa.com/cgi-bin/webc...edaf&mkid=6RXG

And finally, I reviewed the brochure that came with my card, and I see that I earned 2000 flex EQM's for every $25,000 in spending with a limit of 28,000 EQM's per year. However, both the new card data and my online access (at Chase) shows that I earn 2000 EQM's for $15,000 in spending ...

Have there recently been changes to this card that I missed????

Yes, there were changes a/o March 1st. It is now 2000 flex EQM for every $15K in spending. The old brochure has info. that is out of date.

Here's a better link to the benefits:

So have any lifetime PC members been able to get the business PPMC for $100?

Is there any analysis of this card as a spending card? Owning this card gets a lot of perks, but I'm not sure you'd want to spend much with it. If you tend to fly short-haul like me, segments matter more than EQMs for elite qualification, so the EQM for $15k spending bonus becomes less valuable, and the points/dollar doesn't seem exceptional. Even with the points bonus would you want to charge tickets to this card, compared to a spending-oriented hotel card like an SPG Amex?

On a strict $:$ basis, SPG points generally represent more than a CO mile.

But it's kinda a YMMV issue.
