During a few months out of the year, Continental was doing all RJs. But for the most part of the year, they had the final flight out of IAH as a 737 and the second flight back to IAH was the 737 returning. I always booked those flights when I was traveling that route.
Hopefully you are just looking during the few months that the 737 does not operate on that route.

Eh, not really. They may hold around the same number of passengers, but the 735 has far more overhead storage space, and a higher ceiling which makes it feel more spacious. Granted I'd take the E90's Y seats over the 735s in almost every situation, but there are some aspects of the small 737 that outweigh the large Embraer.

yes I meant in passengers.
The E series and upcoming C series will redefine the regional markets and are easily an improvement over the ERJ and CRJ of old, so I enjoy them in that capacity but I was just speaking from a 'fill the plane' pure numbers game of the 90ish-110ish passenger range.

I did 12A on a IAH-PIT ERJ back in september.....supposed to be a 2 1/2-3 hr flight but if the traffic is lite, then pilots can maneuver to cut off some time...We arrived into PIT an hour early because the traffic was not in our way (so the F/A said).
A sandwich with chips/cookie was served and it was a comfortable ride that flew by quickly....The F/A was quite entertaining....
I felt bad for her though--she had to do a PIT-EWR-OKC turn......EWR-OKC on the barbie jet---YUCK

I am currently using OKC or TUL as my airports and while I may need to catch a flight outta EWR I will always take the ride south before I go north! At least in the hopes of getting the upgrade on this route.
EWR -OKC is "sweet" too. Usually a full plane. 3 1/2+ hours (depending on headwind) plus the inevitable 45 min traffic jam just to get in the air. The flight is so long the line for the restroom backs up to row 6.
If it weren't for 12A, I might prefer to drive.
I do EWR - STL - EWR a fair amount and have lately been booking EWR - DTW - STL for the same price. There may not be food service but I'll take F in a 35 year old DC9 over 3+ hours in an ERJ. Plus, the WorldPerks clubs at DTW are sweet.....good cookies

Furthermore, some flights are at meal time so what are we going to eat? A bag of pretzels just doesn't cut it.
If it matters that much to you that you fly in comfort, come here.

CO is forgetting what the RJ in ERJ stands for. Its regional jet! Not lets fly across the country in a sardine can jet. I'm one of the first people to defend RJ's on SHORT flights under 1 1/2 hours but RJ's on a four hour international flight, from the airlines hub, to a major destination is getting ridiculous.

I've been flying EWR-OKC-EWR regularly since 2004. At first, I booked EWR-IAH-OKC as much as possible, but the EWR-IAH got progressively harder to come by, even as a plat, and the IAH-OKC route only has one daily 735 - and after a while it went to 8 seats in first. So I was faced with either:
1. 4 hours on an RJ EWR-OKC. Arrive in OKC around 6pm or 7pm
2. 4 hours on mainline EWR-IAH with a very low upgrade percentage even as a plat, a 1-2 hour connection in IAH, then another hour on an RJ or the one 735 with 70% upgrade percentage due to the small front cabin. Arrive in OKC around 9pm or 10pm.
I am happy to have the option of taking the nonstop on the RJ. It also means that delays out of EWR don't result in me getting stuck in IAH overnight.
