It is interesting to see how things have changed, and how many people have come to accept them.

I was, at one time, a frequent flyer. (I was doing 500k per year BIS, all domestic, but I call a "frequent flyer" anyone who does more than about 300k BIS a year). LAX was my main airport.

My goal was to be *driving* into LAX 30 minutes before my flight. I drove into parking garage 4, went up one level (same level as the bridge), walked through security and *never* missed a flight (and I did this about 300+ times). At other airports where I wasn't as familiar with the procedures (JFK, LGA, DCA, IAH, SFO, MSP, etc.) I would try to arrive at the check-in counter 30 minutes before, not just drive into the airport.

I wonder how sophisticated the UA and CO reservations systems will be after they begin their partnership? It would be nice if we could print CO boarding passes from the UA kiosks. UA has a ton of boarding-pass-only kiosks at LAX, which are removed from the check-in lines.

They talk about BIS miles. Your butt is probably stuck to the seat and either you leave it on the plane or walk around with the the seat.

He crosses time zones so often that he looks down at his watch and his watch gives him the finger.

I liked flying (it was pre 9/11 - 2 carry ons, etc.). The biggest change was my reaction to pay telephones (remember those?). My travels were to different cities and different places (the week I posted was typical, but not exclusive). There was always an airline or a car rental or a hotel that I needed to call. For years afterwards, when I walked past a pay phone, I had the feeling that I was supposed to call someone.
