Does anyone know which plane is used for this route? Is a a newer layout with video on demand and power plugs or the old style plane? Urgent answer needed! Thanks!

They use both versions of the 777-200 for this route. They are changing them all to this one. They are more than 50% complete changing to the new version.

Check http://pda.continental.com/info 2 days before the flight for the aircraft number and then check the link below to see if the aircraft has the new avod.

These are the two versions they fly.
Boeing 777-200ER with 48/235 Configuration (777)
Boeing 777-200ER with 50/235 Configuration (777)

For CO98 HKG-EWR, you can check 4 days prior to flight.

For example, if you're flying on Friday HKG-EWR, by Monday Houston time, you can check for Wednesday's CO99. That will be the same aircraft used for the Friday CO98.

Exception is that they're exchanging the aircraft in HKG from a non-AVOD one to a newly refurbished. In that case, Wednesday CO99 will be non-AVOD, while the Friday CO98 will be.

Oh this is great, good observation on this rkkwan. Hope you are doing well.

Thanks for the info and the link. My flight is tomorrow and I can see on that link that there is an upgrade standby list but I'm not on it. I'm platinum elite on an O class ticket, could the fare class be the reason why I'm not eligible for an upgrade?

EUAs are only on domestic and select other routes. For BF upgrades you must pay to upgrade.

I think that whether or not you get AVOD, you will get power plugs (2 plugs for every 3 seats in coach, but it's almost never a problem to get use one of the 2 if you want to).

The non-AVOD planes are emPower equipped in rows 17-23 only. The AVOD planes are 110V universal plugs in all rows.

It may be too late, I believe mileage upgrades need to be requested at least 24 hours prior to departure.
This web page isn't very clear about it, however:
Quote:
Processing: Upgrades may be requested 24 hours prior to departure.
CO Insider - can you get someone to clarify that language? It's not very useful. Can upgrades be requested 25 hours prior? 23 hours prior? Only 24 hours prior? Exactly, to the second? They "may" be, but do they have to be?

How about: "Upgrades must be requested at least 24 hours prior to departure," assuming that's the case.

This is, in fact, the case. The list remains open until departure time but the upgrade must be requested at least 24 hours prior to the flight.

And I agree that the verbiage is a bit stilted.
