I know some of this has been in jest, but in reality, this will continue to be in Houston as it has been. In addition to being closer to Continental HQ, there is the added benefit of being able to announce the codeshare with WN which, of course, has a large presenece at Houston's Hobby airport. So the DO will be split between IAH on Friday night and HOU on Saturday so we can tour more of Soutwest's facilities. Due to the all Boeing fleet for both airlines, they have agreed to more than just a code share, but also airplane swapping when necessary. Continental is expected to roll out the new boarding process that Southwest has found to be so effective. Moo!!!
One thing that I would find interesting is to tour the dispatch area. Understanding more about aircraft swapping on delays, weather routings, etc. would be interesting to me.
I have toured multiple ATC facilities and understand their side of the process, but do not understand the dispatch portion.

At last year's DO the HQ tour included dispatch/scheduling, IIRC. It was VERY cool. The guy leading that portion of the session had been doing it for something like 30 years and it was obvious that he loved his job and loved talking about it. They actually had to cut him off so we could get to the next phase of the tour.

I would like to have a conversation with Revenue Management...

And also to launch the "Upgrades For Everyone" ad campaign stating how the aircraft swapping will be a true bonus to CO passengers, what with WN's fleet being an "all first class" layout.
If they DO not have the DO in Guam, I think the DO should be in Cleveland in February. How can you have a snowman building contest at the DO without a good supply of snow? DO you agree?
As someone who won't make the event, I still love to watch and enjoy the buildup (and the folks complaining about the buildup ) to the event, then live vicariously through everyone else afterwards. Sounds like Cigarman does a super job with everything Would be nice to experience one day...

I've been on this forum for quite a while and gotten a lot of good answers to my questions, and provided some good answers to others. But I have one overiding question: Who is Cigarman? I know he has a name and all that. I've even seen his picture. But how does he fit into the Continental picture? Why does he have the advance info on CO's new policies and programs? What is his relationship to Continental? Does he work for them? Is he a friend of Larry's? Does his wife walk their dog with Larry's wife or do they have the same hairdresser? He has been a wonderful resource for all of us, but I am curious about how and why he can do what he does.
